I have a good question. Remember during Katrina they painted symbols in the doors of the houses they cleared. It was an "X" with different codes in each part of the "X". Does any one know or have a link to what those codes mean? It would be helpful to idenitify your home with the proper codes prior to any searches.

What is the code for owner inside with full blown airborn aids with a herpies touch and massivily horny?

"Every house, every structure, in New Orleans has its symbolic "x" marked by the crews who checked them for inhabitants after the waters receded. Along one street I could watch the progress of those crews by the dates written by the mark: 9/14, 9/15/, 9/21. In parts of town that flooded only mildly (can you say that?), the marks are all identical: an "x", a date, and a zero. In other parts of town, the marks are each eerie statements of the storm's devastation: "Possible body." "1 inside, 1 outside." "SPCA – 2 dogs," and later "dog DOA." Other signs are testaments to human spirit: "June & Bill are OK!" or with addresses in Texas."

They would paint the symbol of a bullseye for those that own guns.

I think they had a code for:
"White folks in heah, save them first"

Didn't Heston have some line about that?

First paragraph of this article matches what I remember:

"There was a notation in each quadrant, indicating the date searched, by which agency, whether the house was entered, and if any corpses were found."

AFAIK that link is wrong about the single slash mark. It does not mean "hasty search". It means the searchers are STILL IN THERE. They'll close off the other slash when they are done. If it's not closed off then either they forgot or they morphed from searchERs to searchEEs.

No, they can not - they are no different than any private citizen and have absolutely no police powers.

In any sort of civil disturbance or difficulty 99.9% of the private security contractors in CA will have their hands full just securing the buildings to which they are contractually obligated and getting their people to work. Some will do as was done in LA in 1992 and make a pretty fair amount of money standing in front of strip malls and small businesses and charging alot of $$$ to owners hoping they won't be burned out.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say it'll be National Guard should the need arise. Case in point:

Guard troops may be needed in troubled Ala. county

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The sheriff in Alabama's most populous county may call for the National Guard to help maintain order, a spokesman said Tuesday, after a judge cleared the way for cuts in the sheriff's budget and hopes dimmed for a quick end to a budget crisis.

                        <snip>

About 1,000 county workers already are on unpaid leave because courts threw out a key county tax, and Hale has warned that reductions to his budget would mean fewer patrols by deputies and decreased courthouse security.

A spokesman for Hale, Randy Christian, said the sheriff told Gov. Bob Riley after the ruling that state assistance may be needed to perform basic law enforcement tasks once the department's current funding is exhausted in early September.
Keep an eye on this one to see how it plays out. I think it may become more prevalent as budgets continue to be strained and/or depleted.

I understand its Wikipedia and veracity of that statement is questionable, lets move to the hypothetical and say what if. I certainly would not want anybody but the police/national guard handling security.
I had this exact conversation with one of the blackwater directors. His response was that "XE" (formerly Blackwater worldwide) role would be of providing security to government buildings and so forth against looters, thieves.

I agree with you 100%. the role of contractors such as Blackwater would be to provide security, protection services. They were not involved in Katrinas gun confiscation and I don't think they would have anything to do with harming American's despite they negative image they have. My first impression was nothing but 100% patriots and professional.
