Some Republican in a red state needs to push for a Constitutional amendment clarifying for the idiots that don not know how to read, comprehend, or understand history, that the 2nd is an individual right, an not a collective/militia right.

In other words, his wonderful 28th amendment has 0.0001% chance of passing anything.Comment

It's nothing more than, "Lookie! Lookie! I'm trying to do something about them evil gunz, but them evil gun ownerz won't let me! Vote for me! Vote for me!"I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!Comment

can't remember if it was Roger Stone, Mark Levine both or other that said Be Very Wary of CC, because once a CC kicks off it can go in any direction.
You can't get a CC going for only one item or agenda.
Given 2020 election and current admin that will have the muscle, what would stop a CC from being completely hijacked and bogus result shoved down our throats or up our *** more like it.
Constitution itself was illegally self boot strapped and probably wouldn't have passed under original Articles, it was only when majority of States ILLEGALLY began to operate under it and basically threatened the legal holdouts with not so vague threats of blockades and other acts of war.
Obviously nothing directly after Civil War was legit because of ongoing military occupation (ditto with all "elections" in Iraq and Afghanistan during US occupation, as well as any new governments created after WW2 under military occupation).
Supposedly some Amend was never legally ratified, just announced and installed but can't remember which.Comment

Our local chapter of CRPA calls in to the various committees in order to oppose anti-2A legislation. Senate Resolution 7 (SR7 - the one about the 28th amendment) is slated to be heard today at 130PDT. Anyone can call in to voice their opposition. I'm told it's the only thing on the agenda so call in promptly at 130.
We usually say we are a concerned citizen in opposition to the measure/law/proposal. They usually don't let anyone talk beyond saying name, affiliation, and "for" or "against".
Call-in #: 877-226-8163
Access code: 1618051
To get in queue - you press 1 then 0. You will then be assigned a line number. When they ask for who opposes, the operator will open the line numbers one at a time so each person can speak.

Welp, the committee passed it. Still no exact language yet. This is what they want it to do, though:
“ a) Affirm that federal, state, and local governments may adopt public safety regulations limiting aspects of firearms acquisition, possession, public carry, and use by individuals, and that such regulations are consistent with the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution and the understanding that throughout American history private individuals have possessed firearms for home defense, hunting, and recreational purposes;
b) Impose, as a matter of national policy, the following firearms regulations and prohibitions: (1) universal background checks as a prerequisite to purchase or acquisition of a firearm, (2) a prohibition on sales, loans, or other transfers of firearms to those under 21 years of age, subject to limited exceptions, (3) a minimum waiting period after the purchase or acquisition of a firearm before that firearm may be delivered to the buyer or acquirer, and (4) a prohibition on the private possession of assault weapons and other weapons of war;”
While there are obviously a ton of problems with the above, one I am particularly concerned about is “other weapons of war”. There are a number of countries in the world that have outlawed any guns that shoot .308 or 9mm using similar language. So, no Remington 700s in .308, no p320s, etc etc. And, I think it has the potential to be interpreted much more broadly than that.Comment

Every single gun in existence qualifies as a weapon of war, just like how every book and every article offends somebody these days. To prohibit weapons of war is to nullify the Second Amendment entirely, like how hate speech laws render the First Amendment useless.A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
The Second Amendment makes us citizens, not subjects. All other enumerated rights are meaningless without gun rights.Comment
