Don't forget that magazines are defined as "ammunition" in CA as well.

That is what you get when you allow lawyers to redefine English words at will, with no oversight.

You guys are ignorant to be certain that the term was coined by the media to scare people or to dismiss the fact that it is actually an assault weapon.

From what I understood, "assault weapon" was first used by the military to describe certain weapons that were inventoried and used as well by the firearms industry to "market" their products.
          To simply state that it was coined to merely scare, sounds retarded. In fact, the media may have a very valid point;
Aurora shooting: that dude "assaulted" using a semi-auto MP15.
Sandy Hook: Bushmaster, same thing, he attacked, went on the offensive, 26 dead.
San Bernadino: semiauto MPs (was determined that their full-auto mod never worked) killed 14 and wounded 22.
youtube combat footage of US soldiers in the recent conflicts, almost 99% shooting M4's are in semi-auto. *this is just a tidbid and in no way am I going to press this as fact, it was merely an observation. So my observation remains, semi-auto in combat is the preferred method based on what I saw on youtube.

So you are telling me that simply because an AR lacks selective-fire does not make it an assault weapon? Common man.

What I'm trying to say is don't be silly, instead fight on truths like Dom Raso, which makes way more sense.

Only AR-15 is known as Assault Riffle because of the abbreviation. AK not so much.

I call the guns what they are or will become by CA legislation because
if I am explaining things about the laws & prosecution those are the
                    terms that will be used.

Playing politically correct on our side of the line is no value and using
                    substitute terms will confuse people.

Yeah...especially when a large number of folks couldn't differentiate between a pump shotgun and a single shot, or 70% + of citizens in this state, including the media, who take a statement like "a bullet button that can turn a semi-automatic weapon almost into an automatic one." as gospel truth.

I guess what I'm getting at is that when I see an anti gun rant, a paragraph long, with untruths and the term 'assault weapon, assault weapon, assault weapon....6 times in 4 sentences...well, I know damn well how the game is being played.
"I don't do these things to other people, and I require the same from them."

Gun control is like trying to reduce drunk driving by making it tougher for sober people to own cars.

So what we need to do is, to allow/show the public that "Black Rifles" are not the evil that they are fed. We must find a way to normalize the culture again.

That is where the battle lies - public perception of course, as you know.
So what do we do to persuade that same "public" that our side (of the issue) is right?
