Perhaps folks should take an evening and read the stickies, run a couple of searches on Calguns - heck, perhaps even go to the NRA's website and do some reading there. I'd like to think that the 2nd is important enough for gun owners to invest an evening or two to do some research...

Join the NRA. And than contact them reauiring a larger pressnce and more organization and coordination in Sacramento. They have a marketing intelligence in place to see where memberships are coming crom. If all of a sudden there is a bunch of money coming from CA they sill stand up. Join and contact them.

I am pleading with you. Its freaking $25 man. If you are a member and dont want to contribute either talk a friend into joining or buy a friend a membership. And require them to do the same. I want every gunowner on CA carrying an NRA card

You all have to go watch the video of the NRA at Sacramento committee hearings in the past year. You will be shocked at the ineptitude. Here I thought the NRA was professional and taking money and deploying it on the best legal talent possible.

            They ain't. You'll see.

Answer the question. If you're not a member, why should they listen to your demands? Further, if you can't be bothered to educate yourself as to what the NRA is doing in CA then why should anyone take you seriously?

If you want results, put your money where your mouth is.

I'm sure not funding the NRA-ILA will work out well.

I don't know how ANY gun owners anywhere in America can choose to NOT be members of the NRA. We are in the midst of an epic struggle of biblical proportions right now, and in California we're on the front line. It's us against them, people, and the NRA is our voice. The Antis have identified the NRA as Enemy #1. PICK A SIDE. The time for hiding and hoping is over.

Are you a member of the NRA?
Do you go to your local member's council meetings and actively take part in their email and letter campaigns, as well as new shooter introduction days at the range?
Do you introduce nonshooters to the shooting sports and act as a personal model of a responsible gun owner to dispel the lies put out by the anti-2nd A. people?

If you don't then you haven't done much to protect the 2nd A. in California. Just giving some money and expecting magic to occur to fulfil your wishes makes you look naive or stupid, or both. Remember the phrase "I am the NRA"?

Oh yes, for your information, I have done all the above when I lived in CA.

                          Power in Numbers

We need the NRA, the CRPA & the GOC to go to Sacramento and say we represent millions (not thousands) of California Gun Owners - then we just might see some action.

I've been giving them money since I was 18 with 2k in the bank and 2 hand me downs to my name. I just don't see where my money is really going.

Are they out there fighting for us? I believe so, yes. Are they the most effective fighting force when the money is taken into consideration? I do not, at all, believe so. For us to act like they're uncorrupted, incorruptible, and infallable is just ludicrous.

We are not gaining ground. We're not even holding it. What we are doing is not working. The NRA, at this point, is not helping CA, only delaying the inevitable. We need to cut our losses and start a new gun rights group that can hit the brakes on this death roll we're in. One that fights for our rights, tooth and nail. Not a lobbying group that may or may not have any effect.

We need a new and improved NRA.

There are a lot of pleas for help to the NRA from California. But the sad truth of the matter is that the NRA cannot win a political fight in California. In fact, they have no political capital in this state. Simply just throwing money at the California problem is a waste of resource that will weaken the organization overtime.

If the NRA really wants to help California, they need to adopt the same political tactics used by the Democrats. They need to start lobbying and help support the formation of a new state called "Jefferson". They need to utilize the political capital they have in DC to make this happen.

We may not be able to save California as a whole, but we can certainly become surgeons and cut out the cancer that is killing this state.
