i did not infer that turning them in will = compensation. the CA government will make it mandatory like the "high capacity" magazine ban in LA city. turn it it, get it out of city or sell out of state. this will be the same thing.Turn them in? You do realize the State will not compensate you for the guns right and the market in other states will be over saturated so you will probably get a few hundred ($200ish) on the open market for a nice $1,000 AR.
Let's not even start if you bought a gun from a FFL. The rifle is registered to you so unless it's 80% they will track you down.
they don't care if you lose money on it. they want gun owners to be hurt by this as much as possible. loss of the property and money. cause they know that with less money the gun owners will have less to donate to pay for lawyers to fight it.Originally posted by leelawBecause -ohmigosh- they can add their opinions, too?Originally posted by SoCalSig1911Preppers canceled my order this afternoon because I called them a disgrace... Sorry but if ordered to go door to door to confiscate firearms from honest, tax-paying voters I suddenly sense a sudden loss of experienced officers who decide early retirement or occupational change becomes a viable option.....Comment

If this state has taught you anything it's that our law makers are cowards and will do end runs with the law. I suspect they will not give you a license to drive, hold your tax return, or suspend your professional licenses if you refuse. My opinion on the CA Government:
Originally posted by Grover NorquistI don't want to abolish government. I simply want to reduce it to the size where I can drag it into the bathroom and drown it in the bathtub.Comment

I wouldn't fear the experienced officer as much as the rookie, especially one who relishes his "special" position.Comment

no, what they will do is bring in contractors or call in federal help where the people are from out of state and will follow orders.Originally posted by leelawBecause -ohmigosh- they can add their opinions, too?Originally posted by SoCalSig1911Preppers canceled my order this afternoon because I called them a disgrace... Don't think for a second there aren't plenty of cops out there who will do as they are told. They don't want to lose their pensions and anyway, they aren't little people, they'll get to keep their guns.Comment

I never liked the bullet button name, causes nothing but problems with non gun people
I try to call them mag locks, sounds even better as it locks the magazine into the receiver
so let them ban bullet buttons, I use mag lockssigpicComment

We don't control the laws or the narrative, so we can just do the best we can as the laws change. There are really two options: (1) comply, (2) don't comply. Rebellion and similar nonsense is not an option.Say we get to that point. I ask: what then? What do gun owners do? Do we take action and risk sparking a state civil war (which I don't think any of us want to see or be responsible for) or just go underground and hide? It's really starting to feel like we're being pushed to that point.
Non-compliance will be effective only to the extent that the state doesn't know who is not complying the way they cannot do much about the L.A. magazine ban. This is where we have to be aware of our long gun registration that started a year ago and choose wisely which rifles to register, which to reconfigure and which to hide or move out of state.
If CA can ban all semi-automatic rifles and get away with it, then they will ban all semi-automatic rifles and get away with it. They can start banning handguns next, especially if the "logic" from the roster case sticks (as long as there is one handgun available we can use it for self defense.) SCOTUS is just a wild card at the moment.
However, (and this is a big one,) if a Republican wins in 2016 he WILL be choosing replacement for Ruth Bader Ginsburg. At that time CA will be very sorry they pushed the limit.
And on the final positive note, the vast majority of states are relaxing gun laws and as carry and EBRs become mainstream, expect Democrats in free states to start hurting when gun control in their platform is used against them during elections. At some point they'll have to do something about it.sigpicNRA Benefactor MemberComment

I think your numbers are incorrect. 15% will comply and turn in rifles, 80% will ignore, 3-5% will fight against law enforcement. And Law enforcement will be out manned and out gunned. 34 Million Residents, 30% gun ownership. 3% of the 30% is 300,000 firearms owners against 122,000 total Sworn LE.90% will turn in the rifles, 9% will move out of state, .9% will bury and hide the fact they ever owned any rifles. and .1% of gun owners will maybe shoot at any LEOs tasked with collecting them if they go house to house using the DROS forms as info.
that is what will happen.
.30 caliber against their .223 and IIIA vests all day long.
I would hope so.
Yep My poll that was removed was at a 30% participation rate. so factoring that into our equation above, 300,000 firearms owners against 40,000 LE. And each firearms owner has on average 3.4 firearms.Last edited by glockman19; 01-14-2016, 10:57 PM.Comment

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!Comment

You must be joking. They are going after the low hanging fruit. Banning "evil" rifles that have "military style" magazines is exactly what they want. They won't stop until single shot .22lrs and break action shotguns are left.Comment
