Thank your neighbor and fellow gun owners for passing Prop 63. For that gun control is a winning legislative agenda.

Well, on the upside, it could be worse: long guns are not included. When I went hunting at a friend's duck club a couple of years ago, I borrowed his Benelli Super Black Eagle and tried his Winchester Super SX3 Waterfowl in the blind because I wanted to purchase a waterfowl gun and we both could have faced a 10-year prohibition for that. (I ended up buying a Super SX3 Waterfowl and it has been a great purchase at $500 cheaper than the Benelli)
Of course at this rate, they'll fix that next session.
Many of the members take their kids and grandkids hunting there and give them (oops I meant Selling or giving possession of ammunition to a minor) shot shells (now prohibited since the law doesn't specify pistol ammunition only).
On the bright side, we all now have good cause to apply for an FFL just so we can legally hand (oops I meant Selling or giving possession of ammunition to a minor) our children and grandchildren shot shells when duck hunting.Last edited by advocatusdiaboli; 08-24-2015, 9:05 AM.Benefactor Life Member NRA, Life Member CRPA, CGN Contributor, US Army Veteran, Black Ribbon in Memoriam for the deceased 2nd Amendment

Only if the law is retroactive, which most laws are not however firearms laws are sometimes the exception to that general rule such in some Northeastern States where you have to turn in or register all your "assault weapons" retroactively if I recall correctly (not going to support those tyrants by looking it up).
Check the full text for that but I doubt it.Benefactor Life Member NRA, Life Member CRPA, CGN Contributor, US Army Veteran, Black Ribbon in Memoriam for the deceased 2nd Amendment

Not quite. SB 707 attacks both CCW right to carry on campus and, separately, removes the CCW exemption for ammunition possession on campus (while retaining/adding exemptions to both 626.9 and 30310 for retired LE and retired reserve LE.)Brandon Combs

There is currently a carry license exemption to 30310. See https://www.firearmspolicy.org/wp-co...-2015-8-21.pdf and https://www.firearmspolicy.org/wp-co...-2015-8-21.pdf.
(Exemption at 30310(b)(5): "[This section shall not apply to....]A person holding a valid license to carry the firearm pursuant to Chapter 4 (commencing with Section 26150) of Division 5.")

'You da man' on legislation and I bow to your superior knowledge of such things, but writing as an inaccurate layman and cutting to the chase, the result for most citizens is as I said is it not? A concealed firearm with no ammunition is as pointless as...well, I cannot think of anything more pointless save our legislature.Benefactor Life Member NRA, Life Member CRPA, CGN Contributor, US Army Veteran, Black Ribbon in Memoriam for the deceased 2nd Amendment

I didn't mean to be pedantic, just clarifying for the general audience.
The result of SB 707 is that tens of thousands of current CCW licensees -- and likely more than a million future licensees -- are screwed and might end up criminals.
The result of SB 347 is that otherwise law-abiding, good people will be banned from possessing guns for 10 years for non-violent, technical violations of [dumb and useless] laws.Brandon Combs

I put up with any hint of pendantry from you and a few others (like Gene H and the Librarian) because of the good work you all do and, more over, that fact that you are nearly always right and school me into humility. No offense taken. Today at leastI didn't mean to be pedantic, just clarifying for the general audience.

I can be ornery.

I have to wonder if the penultimate anti-gun strategy is simply to make regulation of firearms and ammunition possession and use in California so labyrinthine, arcane, and draconian that few sane people even dare to risk it. And the insane are already prohibited persons. Q.E.D.Benefactor Life Member NRA, Life Member CRPA, CGN Contributor, US Army Veteran, Black Ribbon in Memoriam for the deceased 2nd Amendment

It's the best they could do, so they will keep marching towards that goal.I have to wonder if the penultimate anti-gun strategy is simply to make regulation of firearms and ammunition possession and use in California so labyrinthine, arcane, and draconian that few sane people even dare to risk it.
