I strongly disagree. I have personally changed the minds of a number of friends and acquaintances - including (hopefully past) donors to Everytown et al. It usually starts with "What? You belong to the NRA?" or "What? You carry a gun?". My own personal behavior means everything here because that is what gets the conversation going. Once you start the conversation, there are SO many ways to go (e.g. the racist pedigree of gun laws, why the term "assault rifle" is so ridiculous, NRA safety courses, how they felt in the Rodney King or other riots and how many people the rooftop Koreans killed vs. numbers the protesters killed, etc, etc.)
These people are our neighbors. They've been fed a line of BS and they need to be un-brainwashed. It can be done but they have to be receptive and not on the defensive.
All that said, it's different strokes for different folks. We're all working toward the same goal in our own ways.
