I'd support Baird over Nichols. Baird and his attorney seem to have a solid understanding of the law, of procedure, and of presenting oral argument to the Court.

I think we need to support anyone who puts his own money where his mouth is and his own butt in the hot seat while fighting for our Rights.

His case is heading to the SC. Where is yours. Why not support all of them. Doesn't have to be either or. Some of you act like this is a video game for twelve year olds.

Too many people treat gun ownership itself like an opportunity to act out their Call of Duty fantasies rather than an existential-level fundamental civil right.

Update November 12, 2023 ? Tonight, I emailed the final draft of my cert petition to the printer. Sometime this week, the printer will send me its final draft for me to review. Once there is a print-ready pdf, my cert petition will be printed and filed with SCOTUS. That should happen by the end of this week, just in time for Thanksgiving. Because of the reduced SCOTUS schedule this time of year, my cert petition will not be scheduled before the January 5, 2024, SCOTUS conference.
Time for a sandwich and a nap.

            Enjoy the holidays!

Is Nichols v. Newsom ready for Supreme Court review? Has the case received a final judgment from the Ninth Circuit, or is this a petition an interlocutory appeal?

5 things slower than Nichols v. Newsom:

                  5. The arrival of The Big One.
                  4. Dodo Birds.
                  3. Fossilized dinosaur eggs.
                  2. Molasses on an Antarctic iceberg.
                  1. CalGuns software.

Update from Charles Nichols’ FB page:

I received the draft of my California #OpenCarry cert petition to review today from the printer. I noted the minor edits that had to be made and returned it to the printer to create a proof version for me to review. The proof version should arrive tomorrow. The printer received my $300 cheque payable to the #SCOTUS clerk today. Once I approve the proof version, and pay the remaining balance, the printer will file my cert petition with SCOTUS and serve it on Gov. Newsom and A.G. Bonta. I suspect that it will be filed on Wednesday or Thursday, a month ahead of schedule and in time for the petition to be docketed before Thanksgiving.

Mr. Nichols' Petition for Writ of Certiorari has been docketed (No. 23-526) with SCOTUS. Looks like response date is due December 18th.

Currently the last day for orders on SCOTUS 2024 calendar is June 24.

The Supreme Court can relist cert petitions indefinitely, so the response date means nothing.
