    Which Field Sharpener for BOB?

This one by Work Sharp Guided Field Sharpener seems legit.
It seems like its a one tool that can sharpen pretty much any blade.
Any thoughts. It looks easy enough to use as well. Only $22 on amazon. Seems like a good deal as well.

I found a brand new 2 sided sharpening stone at the antique fair for $5. Course and fine and measures about 10"x3". Oil, water, or nothing at all work great on these.

Of course all the fancy sharpening gizmos are useless to you if you have no idea how to sharpen a knife by hand.

I've been using the same old 2 sided stone with a little oil and can still shave with my blades.

That being said, I do carry one of these in my lunch bag for when I have to dress up my knife at work (or for one of my idiot coworkers that can't sharpen a knife to save their life). I know it's a little outside your budget, but they are light weight and get the job done for me when I can't get to my regular stone at home.

Also, if your blade has serrations on it, this tool is a must have for sharpening them:

Because it tapers down to a small point, I've found it very useful for sharpening the serrations on my Benchmades.

        OP's choice should work.
Since sharpening a knife with a wet stone is kinda an art form which requires lots of practice/patience I can see the value in a specialized tool.
However I choose a tool which is much smaller and handy. It sharpens axes, mower blades, knives (non-serrated) and my machete.

You're right, OP's choice should work fine.

As for your sharpening tool, that looks like a piece of carbide brazed onto a nice handle. I've got a few of those (although not on a nice handle) as lathe tools. Wouldn't take much to make a handle for it. Something else to look for at the antique fairs and estate sales.

Oh, and BTW you're right about the art form on wet stones. It's only taken me 20 years to perfect it and it wasn't learned over night. It's not easy but well worth it.

I've got two of these and they work well. One stays at home and the other lives in my truck. It'll put a very sharp edge on anything from a kitchen knife to a fishing hook. For you bow guys, it also has a broadhead wrench under the sharpening plates.

I have a couple of these Smiths Pocket Pal sharpeners. It weighs next to nothing and has coarse and fine slots as well as a diamond rod that can get the serrations.

For a little redundancy they also offer the Pocket Pal X2 which has the above as well as a light/compass/ferro rod added to the package.

Pocket Pal $9.99 MSRP/Pocket Pal x2 $14.99 MSRP and both are carried at Walmart.

The Corona AC.. done. An electric lineman turned me on to it, they slice up some pretty heavy duty insulation all day long. I now sharpen my expensive kitchen cutlery with it, that and a steele. Sure I have the Lansky and Buck systems.
After watching WTC Bldg #7 being razed, and considering it's main occupants..

I stumbled onto this note while checking advanced weapons..
"911 = false flag. WTC 7 was brought down by demolition. 47 floors came down in 6 1/2 seconds - not hit by a plane. Just one of hundreds of absurdities that occurred that day. Wake up".

What do you think would be the advange of this system compared to the one I suggested. I do not know anything about sharpening tools except for the little Ive watched over the net. I found this on amazon for less than $20.

Same question, except for weight what is the advantage of this tool?

I have this and plan to carry this on me but wanted a sharpener that could also sharpen thicker blades. I couldnt sharpen my esee 5 on this.

Well the advantages are it's cheap, it works, and you can sharpen any blade with it. You can also use any media with it i.e. dry, wet (oil, water, spit)

Disadvantages are it's larger than the one you mentioned, it's a little heavier, and you can't really sharpen serrations easily.

They take some practice to perfect but really work well when you get it.

Start with a sharp knife then simply touch it up as needed with the diamond rod. How much sharpening do you plan on having to do while bugging-out? Put a bigger (heavier) sharpener at your bug-out location.

                        A smooth stone.
California's politicians and unionized government employees are a crime gang that makes the Mexican drug cartels look like a Girl Scout Troop in comparison.

I ended up getting the worksharp but Im unable to get my blade really sharp
                          can't even cut through paper
I'm its my technique and not the sharpener itself.

Just one of the beauties of the Corona, you learn your technique very quickly.
