Plus while I'm prepared to bug out, I'm in a peaceful enough location that it allows me to be more of a keep a very low profile bug-in and wait out the disaster guy. Anyway instead of preloading my BOB with ammo I keep a selection ready to go depending on the situation. For that purpose (and home defense) I keep a 150 or so rounds loaded in bandoleers for each of my likely to grab in an emergency long guns (12ga, 5.56, or 7.62 NATO) and loaded spare mags in the safe for my handguns.
You guys in Hemet can thin out the zombie hordes a bit before they make it out to my area. LOL

We already live so far bugged-out that there is no need of a BOB because you aren't going any further without a BOV. Heck I would like to meet the person that could bug out on foot from the LA/IE cesspools and even make it here with just the water they carry on their back.

There is no natural disaster that would require us to bug-out as we aren't subject to floods/fires/landslides/etc and a major quake would just have me living in my camper. Even in a break down of society the military base would make this an island of relative calm.

I just picked up a Point Blank ACU plate carrier, soft inserts included (throat, yoke, groin were all included). $200. The seller even threw in 4 double stack mag pouches, IFAK, and a general purpose bag for free.

Now I plan on getting some ar500 plates, with line-x for just under $200.

6 AR15 mags topped out, an AR15, my TRP 1911 with 15 7 round mags.

If possible our plan (wifey) is to stay put, and defend our place. We do live in the city and my parents and relatives live in the suburbs about 15 miles south. If conditions are worst and we can drive then we would relocate there. If we have to get the eff out like now then my bag with the above is what I have plus mre and clothings. Wife has a duplicate bag except a sidearm of a Glock23 with 6 10rnd mags .40, and a 9mm barrel conversion and g19 mags bc my brother has stockpiles of 9mm so we can switch her caliber out for the sidearm if need be. She's hiked 20 miles with that rig when we trained on our own and she did better then me lol.

We will just avoid conflicts ad avoid problematic folks of the community for whatever's left of it.

My back hurts just reading some of these load outs.

I don't understand where some people think they are going to be walking. I'm in the Bay Area, pretty much in the middle of 7 million people without food/water wanting to also get somewhere else. I probably wouldn't make it 2 miles before running into trouble.

Funny thing, I've been looking at buying hiking boots lately. I got some shoes, but packed with 25# of gear and broke my feet. Told the sales people and I got the wrong shoes, I need mid boots, and 40# is considered a *lot* of weight to them. They want to bump me into the heaviest shoe category, and they're probably right.

I read guys in forums talking about 80, 90, 100 pounds of gear they're going to take with them, who knows how far. Do they even have shoes/ankle support for that kind of load out? Ever practiced with it?

Some guys are hulks and can do it, but I ain't. 25# is just for building up endurance, and I can't go as far as I'd like.

The heavier boots are really inflexible and hotter, but I'm sure they're better packing a lheavier load.

There are four questions of value in life... What is sacred? Of what is the spirit made? What is worth living for, and what is worth dying for.
