IMO, you guys should bury stashes of ammo and guns in your yard. That way, when you DO need it, you know where to get it. You can always come back for them when things cool down. You can only carry so much guns and ammo with you and it WILL hinder your mobility.

How much ammo do you carry in your Bail Out Bag?

There is only so much that you can carry and I don't keep guns or ammo in my BOB because the situation dictates the ammo load out (if any). For example if you're just fleeing a fire you probably won't need or want to carry a lot of extra weight. Plus while I'm prepared to bug out, I'm in a peaceful enough location that it allows me to be more of a keep a very low profile bug-in and wait out the disaster guy. Anyway instead of preloading my BOB with ammo I keep a selection ready to go depending on the situation. For that purpose (and home defense) I keep a 150 or so rounds loaded in bandoleers for each of my likely to grab in an emergency long guns (12ga, 5.56, or 7.62 NATO) and loaded spare mags in the safe for my handguns.Last edited by sholling; 06-27-2013, 11:40 PM."Government is the great fiction, through which everybody endeavors to live at the expense of everybody else." --FREDERIC BASTIAT--

I have a full load out with a plate carrier too. Thats not for bug out though; for that I would just take a subload belt with 2 AR mags and 2 pistol mags then cover it with a big shirt.Have a good day!Comment

I use a regular pack back for my BOB, nothing tacticool to draw attention. Ammo I would prefer to have on my person: deep pocketed jacket for full stripper clips and a modified Galati Gear belt under the shirt for pistol mags. Of course, this rig is for the most extreme of circumstances.Comment

Just the one bullet I keep in my shirt pocket
If I have to bug out, I will be traveling light and fast, keeping a very low profile and trying to avoid any situation that could result in any kind of fight, let alone a
firefight. Water, food and shelter will be my first priority.
If 100 rounds of .22, 10-22 takedown with 3 loaded magazines, 50 rounds plus 2 loaded spare magazines of .45acp +my fully loaded G30 won't get me where I'm going I'm screwed anyway.Comment

Unless it's a fire, we are bugging in, otherwise, depends on how much the wife can carry and still walk.
