My friends think i'm nuts.. But I really like MRE's. I don't think I have had one I didn't like. They are fun because you never know what you will end up with inside.

Inspired by your bravery I decided to eat my oldest MRE yesterday.

2007 Meatballs in marinara sauce that was stored in Questionable conditions. Id say anywhere from 70 F to 100 F.

Main entree bread slices and Peanut Snacks were just fine.
Cheese pretzels where a bit off.
The cheese spread however was so gone that I considered getting the poison control center on the phone before consuming it.
        I'm forever blowing bubbles,
        Pretty bubbles in the air,
        They fly so high,
        Nearly reach the sky

I love MREs. I used to trade one entree for others whole omelet with ham. The peanut butter is a score anytime they throw it in. The geedunk is usually in bad shape. When they had M&Ms the chocolate was powdery and dry. Too bad they want so much money for MREs. Easier to buy freeze dried nowdays.

lol...that's always the first to go. If your cheese spread is good, everything else is fine.

The emergency MRE's that I have are just for that. If it comes down to eating tree bark or a blue jay, the MRE cheese tortellini will look pretty darn good by comparison.

                MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM, GOOD!

As long as it's filling and nourishing, and smells okay, you're good to go.

I always thought they all tasted like Tabasco? And I found the tortellini to be rather good!

This made me laugh. I prefer to eat vegetarian, and just so happens I had a cheese tortellini last year I bought at a missouri army navy store. Hey, I was hungry and at a rest area, so I figured I'd see how it worked!

I used the heater, which worked perfectly, but jeez you need some ventilation cuz it smells. That kinda jaded the rest of my experience because everything seemed tainted by that. Overall, perfectly adequate. Great? uhhhh no but considering if I were forced to choose between the above, it would be *amazing*.

The peanut butter and cracker? Pretty awesome, although the cracker did seem a bit stale. I pack tabasco in my gear for situations such as these!

The Vegi seem to have the best extra crap to cover the missing nutrients the meat has. MRE's are not my favorite food but served me well in Afghanistan.
