Not enough money to catch up, or buy prep items?

Have I got a deal for you... KIDDING, not a spam thread.

I owed Uncle Sam a bit from pulling out of my 401k for money extra down on house we purchased, and I owed... (Didn't hold enough % back for taxes.)
Figured I'd get a pizza delivery job, as I get off before 4PM most days, and that time frame might work perfect.
Tried signing up for a bunch of delivery/driver jobs, and Uber approved me before anything else.
Pizza places called and I was doing pretty good with Uber, so I stuck with it...
About a month later, I contacted Lyft, and inquired about my approval, approved w/in hours.

Doing Uber AND Lyft, pulling ~$2500-~$3000/month, part time, before taxes, out here in my free state.
Get an Uber ride, turn Lyft off, and vice-versa, and doing pretty okay...
GRANTED, I AM putting TONS of miles on the car, but I just got a replaced engine, as Valvoline didn't put an oil filter on tight enough and it leaked all the oil, and I hadn't even driven it 200 miles... (See a check engine light, don't drive, and check oil, FYI... I just drive it home from the store when she went "kaput".)
Also, I DID get the extended warranty with CarMax when I got the car, so there is that... but If I have repairs, now that I have a renter in the Studio apartment, at least until I refi. the house when a Repub. Pres. gets in Orriface.
It does pay more than the bills.

It CAN make a used car payment, and pay insurance, EASY, AND MORE, if you live near a city that will support enough rides.
My nearby city has a population around 100k.
Gotta find a hub, near some hot spots for rides though. Early morning (00:00-03:00, and very late night were my only 2 worry-rides, so far...

I HAVE been grinding on Uber/Lyft, up to 12 hour days on weekends, pumping caffeine, and a few hours after regular work, weekdays, but mostly not 10-12 hour days, BUT when I did pull >$3k I did take a week of regular job and grind Uber/Lyft that week, and I do owe taxes on all that income.

It ain't tea bag, but did have 2 weird ones where I thought something might happen, however I AM in this free state...
The last one, I was more worried, but both called and said they were almost there, which triggered red flags, and wanted me to wait with him as he "didn't want to be alone", I parked in a place I could get out of in multiple directions, in the light, near the street exit of the parking lot with nothing in front preventing me from taking different directions.

Not sure if this is a good idea in Kali, where people are more and more violent, and think they can get away with anything, but if you relocated to a free-state, with morals, and the state legislators support logic and reason, I do have pepper spray, AND MORE, at the ready, maybe even a backup... ... ...

I am doing better than pretty okay, financially, now, even got me a Kalashnikov USA in the home inventory...
Hell, we even have ourselves ammo vending machines spreading across the free state here...

A Texas grocery store joined a growing list of locations where ammunition vending machines are being installed by American Rounds, which claims transactions are secure.

I have to say I admire your work ethic in taking on a second job to bring in more money to the family. Stay safe out there.

I luckily have more time than brains, and I am drinking a little less...

I work my main gig for Corp. America, even though I haven't had a raise in 4 years, despite having some of the highest number on the team, me and another coworker are always neck and neck for the #1 spot (both of us are long-term vets. of the company)... and BOTH want out, but nobody else seems to pays what [Evil Corporation] does for WFH, and remote support, or it's -$24k locally, and I'd have to go in to a facility/work every day...
I (apparently just) do not play well with incompetent others on other teams, and get demerits for calling others on it, Soooo apparently I gotta make my own raises, working a second job...
And making more money than max raises, AND bonuses together, doing this side gig...

Took a pay hit of over 14+%, getting converted to salary a few years back, and tried to argue the hit, to noavail.
Others on CalGuns said work 14% less, I can't, however...

I just recently started Uber/Lyft stuff in the last few months, and it takes my mind off Corp America, and I have an okay time with it... It's so simple, even I CAN DO IT... like a caveman, if one has the ability to signal and drive at the same time... (with a dash cam...)

8 hours worked, nothing pending, off to Uber/Lyft it is... I ain't making more money milking it, or staying late hours...
I've gotta travel less I told my MGR, as I NOW potentially lose 600-800+/week when I travel for my main gig,
with how they have been screwing me...

I ain't worked a second job in like 12 years, the Biden Economy is requiring skilled white-collar labor to work a second gig...
(My fault, I left my low-Cali VA mortgage for a free-state, with interest rates this high, and got sick of paying $1800+/month for rent in a smaller house these day in TX,
BUT now I got me an acre, (and 36 more of forest and deer tracks, free and clear) with a lakes ~2 miles from me, and not living in a tract-home...

FSCK'EM, NOT Quiet Quitting, I go above and beyond every day, more than most others on my team, or MANY OTHERS on teams I work with, but I gotta better my income, NAWT Corp. America...
Somebody's got a fishing boat in their immediate future, as he lives ~2 miles from 2 lakes, and 25 minutes from a much larger lake, ALL full of BASS...

"Someone told me a bunch of hipsters are trying to catch 7" trout, throwing feathers on little hippie sticks...
guess they haven't heard of bass, yet... ... ..."

Couldn't get to sleep last night, so I burned a Friday as a sick day, only 3rd sick day so far this year, I NEVER call in on Fridays, and Mondays are rare over the last few years...
(For some reason, it's always need to burn a sick day on Tuesdays, or Wednesdays...)
When I got enough sleep, and woke in a panic, looking at the clock 09:xyAM, WTF?!?!?!!?!
Oh, I took a sick day, e-mailed real early morning... whew... panic subsided...

I pulled over $200 with Uber and Lyft combined, today, but like a 12+ hour day... (of which I will owe taxes on...)
I DID HOWEVER go to a LGS I have never been to before (I discovered while Uber/Lyfting a passenger) during this time,
and got my AK a picatinny-optic mount dust cover, @one of the closest FFLs to me, aside from the pawn shop...
$25 transfer fees for lowers, also!
This FFL has been there over a year, and I didn't even know it! A+ to Uber/Lyft for the discovery?

They have all the modern stuff, AND hunting .308 Ruger Americans, of the 2.0 variety, at a reasonable price too...

Since this is a "prepper" site . . . Wouldn't you be better off doing things on your own? Grow a garden so you don't have to pay for vegetables, raise chicken and get free meat & eggs (also you can sell meat & eggs under the table - no taxes), start sourdough & provide your own bread, cut out any provider you pay and replace them with DIY (childcare, house maintenance, car maintenance, pool service, house cleaning, etc). As well as saving $ you are also learning/honing valuable skills, and your labor in that manner is not taxable. I like to use the example of a pool cleaner: One guy owns the company, he has overhead with taxes, offices, compliance/accounting, employees, the employees pay taxes, there's unemployment insurance, medicare, SSI, fuel expense, etc - you are not simply paying for the pool cleaning, you are paying for all that overhead as well - not to mention the money that you make to pay that bill . . . you get after paying a percentage in taxes, medicare, SSI, etc - when you simply do the job yourself you eliminate all that overhead! You can get ahead quickly simply by getting out of "the system" and eliminating all the overhead that doesn't benefit you.

Check yourself, before you wreck yourself...
THIS is a Prepper/Survivalist sub-forum/Thread, not a prepper/survivalist site, which is a VERY small portion of said site...

Like the best rapper, one can't pay the IRS in gold bars...
              (Want to hear a "laugher"?
A White rapper walks into 16 bars...)

I positioned myself pretty well, permanently, it just cost me initially (this tax season), I am REALLY paying down debt, now have a renter (perm side income for years, and I do nothing of consequence, else), I already have been reloading most of the calibers I shoot(, since 2012), we have like 28-29 guns (from 6-7 brought to TX), last check, most of them caliber consolidated, w/ some boutiques like .50AE, and 5.7, and more... I agree, I will not need to do this second gig, and I am getting older, and learn a lot, support even more daily in my main gig, even plan on starting a plant-propagation business on top of the Timber sales from the property, the rental of the room, and the Uber/Lyft on the side...

After work it acutally gives me peace/relief, not thinking about work, or putting in more labor with a bad back, and my knees are starting to be an issue, and just drive for a good second gig(, which I used to HATE, as I had to drive from Murrieta/Menifee to Blythe, every other weekend, both on Friday for the drop off, AND Sunday for the pickup of my son for his mother's visitation weekends... ... ... then... skip it)...

I AM Happy to have these once in a lifetime opportunities I have set family up for, all while I got screwed by [Evil Corporation]...
I am good, in not leaning drywall floating skills, locking up my back for days after the work, etc... If one shops around here gas is only $2.699/GL, too.
              Easy-(Easier) money...

I never drove the car anyways, as I like the truck better...

Garden in the works, starters started this year, but the damned cat knocked them over...
My most wanted fruit trees being planted on the 1 acre, beauty berries, blackberries, and dewberries grow wild here (might propagate them, for even more, as on the 36 acres, has American Persimmons, I am trying to propagate, along with cherry seedlings), and I AM doing the side-gig prepping w/edibles that grow w/little interaction, too...
Even found cold-hearty varieties that MIGHT make it through the ice-storms here, but already found a possible solution...

Haas avocado tree sprouting leaves now, thornless key limes, Improved Myer Lemon, blackberries galore, dewberries, Hamlin sweet orange, Majestic Peach, Moonglow pear, Honeycrisp apple, all on the 1Acre property.
              Need a wood chipper, though...

(Drunken/Sober Lyft/Uber videos of dumb people that don't even know what a fare is might be another, additional revenue? still
Feeling that out with my minimal/N00B video editing skews...)

              /I been dranking...
