The slickster is all dependent on your size plates. Medium plates=Medium carrier
Large plates=Large carrier. It is extremely adjustable.

Well, no go on getting one so I got a Grey Ghost minimalist and I'm looking at the Velocity Systems Low-Profile Assault Carrier.

      Know anything about Velocity Sys?

Also, with a high qual ceramic plate like the Hescos do you still need to run a front frag pad and/or a rear trauma/spall pad?

      Thoughts?

Velocity makes great gear and even better plates used my MIL/LEO.
My 3810s I’m not running any pads but with my set of L210s I have
Spartan Armor Systems trauma pad for body armor to reduce blunt force trauma and increase comfort of AR500 and other body armor systems

In shooter cut because I needed to fill out some space in the carrier for the velcro to attach perfectly and it adds comfort. no added ballistic protection. Planning to get some Kevlar soon.

I wouldn’t be concerned about a strike face pad as much as I would a back face deformation pad especially on L210s.

I thought is was chest size... must have been thinking of Crye? Nope, that one seems to have similar sizing based on plate size, DOH. That makes carrier sizing less frustrating to get right, thanks. I'll try for one next batch maybe.

I'm not running the L210 special threats.. I have a lightweight III shooter cut front and the rear is a medium SAPI ULTRA-lightweight..

BTW.. that Ultra-lightweight plate is nuts.. 2.1 lbs! seriously.. I can't believe it actually would work.

So just a pair of rear IIIA trama pads and call it a day.. I thought I've heard that ceramic frags in the front? Or was that just the cheap stuff?

Thanks again for making me spend too much money.

I got the Velocity carrier for $200 shipped.. pretty happy with that

Just humor me with an annoying question... assume cheap $100 level IV plate stops exactly what it should stop very similarly to a $1200 level IV plate... what do you get for $1100 x2 ? They are both heavy.

Price, weight, threat level rating... Age old "you can pick 2"
There are other sub categories such as durability, thickness that may be factors, yet the first three are the main ones. If they are both heavy, then yes I'd question the value of 10x more money.
Level IV has to stop some serious horse power rounds. As such, getting the weight down can be difficult. Unlike level III(+) you can get some serious weight savings.
                  WTB S&W Model 10 or S&W 357 (of various models) 3 or 4" barrel.

                  Stay Safe and Shoot Straight.

lol... maybe you need to read the specs closer..

My LevIII Hesco plates came in at 2.1 pounds per plate (well, 2.6 for the light version and 2.1 for the ultra)

So that's what you're paying for..

I'm sure the weight difference between a LAPG Lv4 plate and a Hesco lightweight Lv4 plate will be just as striking..

You mean they make it out of some kind of alien tech material? Crazy.

I didn't say level III. LOL, hahah... why would I be reading your Level III specs?

My cheap IIIA+ plates weigh 1 pound... which you cannot extrapolate anything about the weight of the level IV plates from.

Hesco Level IV are 5 pounds each. (could be more, that's what is listed)

Battle Steel level IV are 5 pounds eleven ounces (I just weighed one)...

So, 22 ounces for a set? Save a pound and change for $2200. OK, now we know.

Personally, I won't notice a pound. Like I said, level IV are all heavy.

I really want to know the differences, but magic mil dust, hopes and dreams do not add $2200.
