Anyone step up thier preps with concerns of recent events?

Just wondering what other people are thinking about, with the current economic and political problems going on.

Are you adding or buying more of things now? Are you buying things that you normally dont buy, for that, just incase moment?

Stocking up on whatever is your go-to items?

Im doing for me what I feel is best as Im sure other will do the same, which is best for them.

I live off the old antage of, its better to have it and not need it but use it, then its is to need it and not have it at all.

    Thoughts?

Yes, prior to the CA place selling i was limited to essential prep due to limited income. Post-sale, I've changed the mission parameters and reallocated more assets to longer-term survival methods and missions.

Samples would be longer term food and water solutions; prior focus was only periods of weeks or a few months. Also, laying in appropriate inventory to the locale to repair and maintain essential living assets. Examples would be backup/repair inventory for water, power, structures, equipment, etc.

Lastly, defense. I'm typing this as a side by side navigates the steep dune road behind the house and am thinking more about that kind of equipment for transport and weapons deployment in the forest and the dunes if things go sideways. Right now they're mostly play toys for the wealthy folks who own vacation homes in the neighborhood but I see other uses.

Thinking about that also brings up laying in solid fuel supplies. I used to have a 500 gallon tank for the genset in CA but sold all that stuff years ago.

Anyway, not going crazy, but incrementally ramping up stuff which can benefit myself and the locals where I live if things go bad. Right now there's not many of us as most of the homes are owned by out of area or our of state entities or people. Just a small core group. If things go bad, we'll either have to deal with those people or other threats bugging in or, hopefully, it'll be really quiet and the main project will be surviving.

The main problem I have is having sufficient survival resources but also keeping a low profile as the forgettable old man in the junkiest house in the neighborhood. It's a challenge

Our preparations philosophy is centered on ability to adapt to all risks regardless of which quarter they arise from. Generally, there is a good deal of overlap where preparedness plans for one threat, easily adapt to some other threat. Once the basics of food, shelter, energy, security and communications and health are well covered, there's not much left to add.

Each new disaster or threat of disaster gives my family an opportunity to fine tune things at most but I am confident that we don't have any glaring holes in preparedness planning to date. But then, our self-reliance journey began over a decade ago so we've been at it for a while.

Those just waking up or relatively new to the game may yet have work to do. My thought is that the threat of civil unrest remains a significant topic to keep your eyes on so if you are just coming on board in the self-reliance game, this might be a place to start.

Short answer OP, yes. In general mostly just food, ammo, and some basic medical preps but definitely a step in that direction. I'm already pretty well set but I just added another month supply of food, a bit more gasoline for the generators, and packed a few more P-mags and replenished that supply of 5.56 with fresh Lake City.

We can't do much to control what happens around us, but we can see that our neighborhood of about a dozen homes spread out over 100 acres is ready. I'm making sure I stay in touch with the neighbors and see if they are equally prepped and most are. We have a couple elderly widows on the street and they have our number for any needs.

Added another month's worth of food, otherwise set on everything else.

I am frugal that I have accumulate savings enough to cover my long term debts and current term expenses.
I am wise enough to have stockpiled food, water, and ammunition enough to hold out for a couple of months unreplenishment.
I am young enough to be in good health and mental capacity to fend effectively for myself and my family.
I am blessed enough to be a Christian who has made my peace with God; I fear not death.

If you can say the things you might still be more prepared, but you are prepared enough.

I topped off my truck’s gas tank yesterday. Gas prices will be going up soon because of our misguided dependence on oil from the Middle East.

I?m not letting the fuel level in my vehicle get below 1/2 tank. 1/4 will get me to my ?safe? location.

I have enough Tabasco brand hot sauce that I feel confident in being able to withstand a siege of 6 to 8 months.

I just did the same today when I noticed it was at $2.999/gallon in my town, but since I was in the city anyways, I filled up for ~$2.719...
$4.999-$5.299/gallon, per a Murrieta search of the Innernetz, what a wonderful way to redistribute to Democrat's wallets...

Stock in another 40 lbs rice and 40 lbs dried beans.

Rebuilt, lubed and loaded my 100 rd dual drum magazine. Now every magazine in the place is loaded.

Semi confident in what I have to last the family and I a few months. But also Decided to buy some recoil springs for the 1911, some ar 15 extractor springs with the rubber washer and some batteries for various pistol optics I have.

I dont know about others, but Im fairly well set. Ive been in the preppeing mode since I was a kid as my dad kinda did it when I was growing up. But theres allways other points of view and different tools to add to the program.

I prep with a year of use in mind, while others only prep for a few months.

With the way things are going right now, I hoping more people are planning on putting more into their preps. Prices going up again, the Jackass in charge turning the US upsidedown, dont see anything good on the horizon in the next election, fed rates just dont seem to stop climbing and the goverment is the worst its been in decades.

Im normally an optimist, but thats starting to fade a bit.

I "stepped up my preps" 15 years ago. And stepped up again 10 years ago.

I don't know how much more I can step my preps up.
