    CME events ramping up!

While we routinely can become obsessively focused on the current events on earth it's important to realize there is a massive uncontrolled nuclear reactor showering us with radiation.

Just had a near miss (was directed away from the planet).

More are forecast in the coming days.

So, the sky could actually be falling and raining death and destruction upon us all?

Don?t CMEs carry potential for EMPs?

It can be common knowledge that solar flares can disrupt radio comms and ruin certain power grid components?

While I do not wish any general population ill will, let alone myself be ?inconvenienced? in any way, all of this solar phenomena is frkn fascinating.

Those question marks (except one) in my post were typed as apostrophes and quote marks…

            Look up "Carrington Event".

Heard of it, but never examined the evidence... thank you for that one!

Too, there's the illustrious style of those 19th-century scribes...

              Decribing arouras:

...though at times the light was, if possible, more brilliant, and the prismatic hues more varied and gorgeous. The light appeared to cover the whole firmament, apparently like a luminous cloud, through which the stars of the larger magnitude indistinctly shone. The light was greater than that of the moon at its full, but had an indescribable softness and delicacy that seemed to envelop everything upon which it rested.
...looking out of the tent saw a great reflection in the southern heavens at about 7 o'clock p.m., and in about half an hour, a scene of almost unspeakable beauty presented itself:

It was a sight never to be forgotten, and was considered at the time to be the greatest aurora recorded [...]. The rationalist and pantheist saw nature in her most exquisite robes, recognising, the divine immanence, immutable law, cause, and effect. The superstitious and the fanatical had dire forebodings, and thought it a foreshadowing of Armageddon and final dissolution.

And then the telegraphers able to communicate, even with disonnected power supplies... fascinating.

              Thanks again, Sailorman.

We've dodged many potential CMP / EMP solar flares in the last 10 years, 5 flares which would have caused major power grid failures and severely impacted humans. Another issue is the destruction of satellites in orbit when they're hit by a CME or high spike EMP nuclear weapon detonated in space. Imagine 80-90% of satellites in LEO and Geosynch orbit that are destroyed. No TV, no phones, no banking, no credit cards, 90% of computers, phones, cars and electrical grid stations are fried.

One thing geologists have discovered on earth and the moon, are super CME events that are so powerful, they scorch the earth and can destroy any organic material. Luckily those super events happen every few million years, but they've happened. Bottomline, it's not if but when we'll be hit by a life changing CME.

Don't even get me started on gamma ray bursts! If one of those hits is it might sterilize the entire planet.

                  Space is full of danger.
