Get the data sheet on the 14. Then post so you can find out how good or bad the tube is.

I'd say that even if it's a good tube, that price is at the top end of the range unless it's a quality ballistic grade helmet. Then it's probably about right, but not any kind of hot deal. Check out JRH Enterprises for some price comparisons of different tubes:

He's often got stuff in stock or relatively short lead times.

Ok, thanks for the help guys. What do you think a good price for that setup would be?

It's hard to say without the make and specs on the tube. I second JRH, good dude; that's where I got my WP PVS 14 for 3k. Mine is the Photonis "budget" tube but it's way better than the NODS I flew Hornets with. My set up is:

                    Photonis WP PVS-14: $3k
                    Rhino mount: $100
Wendy Bump with Peltor arms: $380
3m earpro with jack for radio: $80
                    Counterweight: $20

So there you go. Other than the Comtac, that's a similar set up new. I think you would be over paying for GP tubes, but maybe it's a L3 filmless 3rd Gen? If you haven't already, get smart on tubes and the different manufacturers since that's an easy 1k difference for L3.

You do not have enough information for us to offer any opinion on the tube.
You really need a spec sheet.
A good “Thin Film” Gen 3 tube Will run about $3,500. L3 “Filmless” will be about $500 more.

Tube Questions to be answered :
                      - Elbit ? L3 ? Harris ? Or other manufacture?
                      - Filmless or Thin Filmed ?
                      - What is the FOM, SNR, EBI, Halo, and Resolution ?
                      - Are there any spots or blemishes on the tube and in what Zones?
                      - Green or White phosphor ?

Without these questions answered I would be reluctant to gamble $4,500

You really need the tube and a dark room. And dark spots? Any white spots?

All NV is expensive. Snipers hide forum has a good NV / thermal subforum.

I would call TNVC if you are looking to spend $4k as they probably can beat his used price.

Buy what you need -sometimes a full kit has too many items you will not use.
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT
                              (thanks to Jeff Cooper)
