    Flashlight suggestions?

Looking for a rugged, waterproof, break resistant, high output LED flashlight that uses AA's. (Did I mention break resistant) Preferably one with a high & low setting. Don't care if it's made of plastic, aluminum, etc. Main use will be camping & hiking & my budget is $100 or less, preferably much less! But I'll buy once / cry once for an indestructible torch.

I like Fenix lights. Good quality. Sturdy. Affordable.

Other than that Surefire/Streamlight are always solid.

Won't touch Fenix ever again! Had one of their 2AA lights roll off my bumper (3-4' tops) while changing my tire at night ~ Poof ~ Thank god for lighters!

Just get the Duracell 3-pack from Costco (about $20 IIRC). They have low/high/flash are fairly durable but run on AAA not AA.

Decent lights, cheap enough that if broken its no big deal.

        Sorry, not sorry.

I have their big D cell LED rigs, & while they're great for what they are, they really ain't waterproof & known for durability. As mentioned, I want a light that won't let me down. Something you would have faith in for a night hike even with multiple drops.

That's was the purpose of my question. I'd rather solicit advice rather than experiment with multiple purchases.

I've bought the Indestructible Rayovac flashlights from HomeDepot before. Run on AA, batteries last somewhere around 100 hours, high/low, water resistant, can run them over with your car. $10-$15 range

Fenix, Nitecore, and Olight are what I use. I have had one Fenix flashlight die (the tail switch failed) after 2 years of 5 day per week use (6-10 on/offs per day) but that's been my only LED flashlight to die so far.

Another vote for the Rayovac Indestructible---high and low settings---cheap (about $15 at Home Depot)---bought several for around the house and in the cars)---also paired up with Mini Maglite AA LED, not as powerful, but still handy to have around because you should NEVER depend on just one flashlight…
Oh, and holiday season is the best time to stock-up on all sizes of batteries at the lowest prices, and with the better brands of batteries promising over 10 years shelf life, you can't lose...

Ferreal! Can buy three of 'em for $100. If I was gonna spend a hundo, I'd get a poly Surefire and a couple dozen 123's.

I lost an older Streamlight I had and could not justify spending over $100 for a new one.

I ended up with a Dark Star 1000 from Bass Pro for $49.
AAA powered and very bright with adjustable beam.
                            Happy with it.

Don't know if it is waterproof.
