Is Gravedigger finished looking for the little girl? Maybe he can come help you.
Never initiate force against another. That should be the underlying principle of your life. But should someone do violence to you, retaliate without hesitation, without reservation, without quarter, until you are sure that he will never wish to harm - or never be capable of harming - you or yours again.

Stan Anderson of the S. Anderson winery (now Cliff Lede) in Napa had his hill bored out for wine aging, sometime in the 70s IIRC. Picture of the modernized version on this page - http://cliffledevineyards.com/about/story/ - at the 2005 mark.
so we all drove over to the site where Stan had a coal mining machine dig a cave deep into the hillside. Neato, musty cave with lots of casks, bottles, riddling racks, candles, and the whole schmear.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

I've actually got a backhoe, and a full sized jackhammer. The mountainside is almost solid rock - or it is extremely fragile shale. So, unless I can find a tunnel boring rig, I'm probably not going to get that project done in my lifetime. If we can get a dozen people together willing to work for beer, it's probably possible.

I often think that I could have doubled the size of my house if I started digging and supporting the the slab from underneath.

And, with the decomposed granite under the slab, I would have had to work at it every stinking day.
