I more than amply covered my experience towing single and multiple axle trailers, including single axle m149's
Towing a single axle tank trailer behind, what, a deuce and a half? Is far different than towing a single axle trailer with a tank strapped on top of it behind a half ton pick up truck.

    Just sayin....

I'm just pointing this out in case our inexperienced OP starts looking for a different trailer and thinks to get himself a single axle trailer. It really isn't a good idea in his case, even if that axle were rated for more than adequate weight.

if you were actually reading what I posted instead of trying to read something else into it to create an arguement, you would have noticed I already addressed the disadvantages of an m149 and discouraged it's use for civilian duty..

and yes I have plenty enough experience from class 8 to 1/2t p/u's to know the difference..

dedicated water trailer with little or no other use..

lunette eye is the ticket for rough terrain and steep approach angles etc.. probably not kind on a light duty p/u especially if converted to surge brake for non air equipped tow..

tires, brakes, lights, etc.. are hobby finds not normally carried at pep boys..

gotta be a mil enthusiast to want to deal with these for normal use..

as trailers go, better off with something that has more uses like equipment / car hauler or dump utility, etc..

welded d rings or chain buckets with good tie down set up would allow for tank removal when not in use..

electric brakes on both axles and a teconsha prodigy controller be smooooth..

most 1/2t p/u will likely exceed the tow rating for a 7k trailer rig..

the empty poly tanks are easy to handle when not in use.. I was just back home last month doing some chores.. needed the F350 to haul some building materials.. backed it up to the old Chevy, slid it over to free up the Ford, slid it back when I was done
and yes, of course I towed m149's behind deuces and 5t's, like a boss

and it seems as if all of this information and our suggestions are moot if the op is no longer watching
I started out with nothing - and I still have most of it

What's the tow rating on your truck, Level of hitch and max tongue weight?

If the load you want to haul is under those maximums and you have trailer brakes you should be OK.

Don't be surprised when your trailer pushes your truck. Exciting when you are trying to stop and frightening when you corner. Slow and steady.

Why not just buy a couple of the 275 gallon tanks? It's a lot closer to your load capacty and you could buy 3 or 4 them cheap, keep an empty in your truck and pump or siphon to the others at your house.
