So here's what I've come up with so far in my research for the guns I'm considering. These are just some of the pros. Please feel free to add anything to list positive or negative

Versamax- gas driven, American made, recoil is light,
easy to point, price is good. .

A400- gas driven, points well but doesn't feel balanced, Ko system seems nice on the shoulder but the $ hurts the wallet

Maxus-gas driven, points and swings the best out of the gas guns, balanced well,
      price is good

SBE2-inertia driven, points nicely, easy to clean,

A5-inertia driven, shoulders/points the best, easy to clean, great warranty,

Beretta Xtrema 2 for me... pre-A400/new beretta naming. You may be able to pick one up for ~$900.

The Xtrema fits me very well with the stock spacer installed, feels very balanced. Mine does not have the KO system. I'm over 6' tall with long arms, and it was great to have a few sizing options available to help it fit me. My shorter (5'9"?) friend had one without the spacer that he loved too.
Its an expensive hobby, but more expensive when you try and convince yourself you don't need what you really want.

If you consider an A5 or Maxus price to be good, I'd definitely go for one of those!

I shoot a SBEII. I've never had any issues with it at it shoots all kinds of loads well. My buddy shoots a Maxxus and loves it.

                  Benelli M1S90. Very dependable.

My older son is using my circa 1993 Browning Gold and its never failed in over 20 years of duck hunting.
I don't shoot because I like guns, I shoot because I hate paper.

I've been using Beretta A400 xtreme unico camo optifade model #j40xm18. The tube shut off can get tricky if you get in a hurry but all in all very nice piece.

I just got back last night from Montana. Photo attached.

For me, bad weather gun = Benelli Nova

Not so bad weather (only because the blued finish is still nice) = Browning BPS

Late Season goose ( when they've been shot at a lot) = Browning BPS w 30" metro barrel

^ and yes, it looks ridiculous

I use a Franchi I-12. It's a budget gun made by Bennelli and has the identical inertia driven action, built in the same factory, it just costs a couple of $hundreds less.
If you are looking to gift yourself a shotgun for Christmas, I have a friend who asked me to put one up for sale here on Calguns: Beretta Xplor Action. It's brand new in box, never shot, never even put together.
