Noggles didn't ask a question, he just ran his mouth with asinine comments. Do you read any of the posts you comment on?

      Prohibited person

I was going to post but the people on this board are so up tight and argumentative it's not even worth going into.

My basic answer: I have a friend in SLO who has a felony charge for possession of marijuana from when he was 19. I took him hunting and was completely within the laws. We discussed that I would always remain in possession of the one rifle that I brought and the 4 cartridges that I brought. No need for a ton of ammo, and it never came out of my rifle until I unload it to get in the truck. In which case I secure it. No chance to go wrong here since I always have positive control of the rifle. He's a guy I know. Not some crazed lunatic who's such a criminal that he's going to maliciously be unable to stop himself from taking my hunting rifle from me, like many people here feel any Felon will do. Pretty black and white situation. He had a great time and since then we both have got bows.

Just to clarify; we're helping a known felon establish his rights to be apart of the california hunting community?

Yah, pretty much. I'm guessing you'd suggest we strip his right to drive, go to college, own a home, and pretty much anything else that puts him within 100 miles of the "good" people?

He hasn't been stripped of his hunting rights. What exactly is the problem here?

Probably outside the scope of the hunting forum.

Establish his rights in the hunting community is what I said, not his hunting rights...although I would support an end to that as well. The problem is that as a California sportsman, and a hunter for thirty years, we have a tremendously bad public relations problem in this state.....but I guess establishing a "take a felon to the field" program will help

Your facepalm is ridiculous and only shows you feel yourself to be a better human being.

I know a few "felons" who committed crimes when they were younger and have actually ended up doing society more good than most non felons. I am not trying to protect felons here! Just saying that one shoe size doesn't fit all. Obviously the OP knows this person and is comfortable with the situation. Its not your friend or mine and i may act differently depending on the person.

C'mon, it's not THAT ridiculous...a pirate face would be, though

Compared to a felon, you may be right. Possibly because I don't feel it's "luck" that I've lived my life without committing a felony...and possibly that I don't want a felon to be associated with the hunting community in a state where the masses believe we hunt as a blood sport.

We can disagree to disagree, if you want, though.

Its certainly not luck that you/I chose not to do something bad.

However i have made mistakes i regret in life. They just didn't fall outside the boundary of the law. Like i said though, i know some very nice responsible people that screwed up 30 years ago that i would trust with my wallet. I just don't think its fair to paint certain people with such a broad brush in life.

Even involuntary manslaughter is a felony. We are talking where there was no intent to harm or kill someone but you did.

Yeah I read it but I didn't ask you, I ask your buddy. IMO USMC vet or not got nothing to do with good moral character. No connection whatsoever. Feel free to disagree.
