Try McCloud Res. Not too far from where you are going. Also Cattle Camp area. Use GULP!
eggs and night crawlers. Taking my boys up there in July. Good luck.

Regarding burney creek when you say "fishing at the bridge above the falls" are you talking about fisher mans bridge at Burney Falls Park? So start there and hike down along the shore

Thanks for the map, where say that Hat Creek crosses 89, are you talking about the section between Rocky campground and CG campground? Sounds there's some good fishing spots from the shore?

Thanks again for the tips. This is my 3rd year going up there, I need to creat some excitement for the kids
Fished Hat Creek between Rocky and Cave campgrounds for a few hours Sunday. First time out with my new flyrod and haven't flyfished in 8 years so mainly just wanted to get out and get the rust off. Creek is still fast and high, didn't get any strikes but it was still a blast. Lots of baitfisherman, talked to a couple and said fishing was slow, but like I said, there were a number of fisherman and may have made the trout shy.

So, how did it go? Any luck? Was up around Cassel and the stretch between Cave and Rocky Campgrounds. Flyfishing was slow....got about 8 strikes and caught 2 small ones. Not a soul fishing below Powerhouse 2....too hot.

The trip was great. We had a little luck on Lake Britton, caught two small bass and a decent crappie. Rented a pontoon boat and cruised the lake. There was hardly anyone else on the lake, maybe 10 other boats. The lake is a lot bigger than I anticipated.

Went fishing near the dam at Baum lake. There was fish all over the place, but no luck.

Had better luck just above the falls in Burney Creek, caught 4 trout.

Lots of deer around, and snakes, saw 7 total including a rattlesnake.

It was a great trip, was fun to get away w/o cell phones, etc.

Only drawback was that it was hot in the afternoon, low 90s, the nights only got down in the 50s. I've been there in the past, and it's been 31 at night.

My 5, and 7 year old boys loved it! They didn't want to leave!!
