    +1

Charter fishing we always brought our rods, reels, rigs, etc., I prefer it that way. I used their bait or sometimes used my own artificials.

It was a great deal back then but I haven't done charter boat in over a decade so I'm not hip to the pricing anymore. The cost to go out for albacore wasn't that bad either.

I would love to get in on a charter or try sturgeon sometime. I've only recently started ocean fishing and have been stuck with primarily rock fish, bass and perch here in Los Angeles. I am probably down for a drive up north if people are putting together a charter and are willing to take a sportfishing newb aboard

I don't know that I'd drive all the way up here for some mud fishing, sturgeon trips are long and boring, and if the boat catches 1 legal fish it did very good, catches 2 and it did great. But if you still want to get in on it give it a shot, here's my favorite captains who I consider the best. I know or know of almost all of the guys running 6 packs up there.

        1 John badger barbarian sportfishing
        2 Brian collier fishin game
3 tie between jay lopes on right hook, Dave Hammond on delta pro, and Steve on flash sportfishing.

Ultimately I want to catch a Tuna, thats a sure fight.

stonefly-2, I know you dont need a great website to be a good fisherman.

These days you never know what you are going to get. If you are running a business, you just might want to get up to speed and see how the guys who are getting a lot of customers are doing it. The world is always evolving.

You snooze you loose mentality. If you arent on facebook, twitter, instagram, newspaper, magazines, business cards, ads in the bait shop you are losing out on a portion of customers.

It all depends on what you are going for, you want loads of customers where you need multiple boats to take out weekly or just once or twice a month customer base?

Like I said, im open to any suggestions but I dont have funds to go on a charter more than once or twice a year if that.

I think its pretty simple logic, would you guys go with a guy whos updating their site with people catching fish weekly or a guy who hasnt updated their site in 2+ years?

It depends on what you want i guess.

i'm not offended by anything you wrote and i don't have any reason to care really which boat you fish. so you know.
there is an expression in sport fishing (though i can't recall having heard it this far north) where someone would say they or he "built the boat". it has to do with reputation, fierce pride and who doe's or doesn't hold his manhood cheap where captains gather.
if you want to read an interesting tale about a man that "built a boat" research tony reyes. he just passed away a couple of years ago now.
his boat the jose andres is an 86" wooden converted shrimp trawler running from san felipe mexico down into the midriff islands.
as time went by the fact that boat was always booked (indeed it seemed like you had to be related to an old customer of his to get a spot and as a result i fished the celia angelina my first 4 or 5 trips to the midriff) encouraged him to put on a second boat.
the tony reyes is some 40' longer i suspect, has a steel hull has ice makers, vacuum packing machines, a chef (as opposed to a cook) kyaks and all the comforts of home.
his old friends/ long time guidas stayed with the boat they had built, that's the boat i booked.

don't even ask me about tuna ok?
