My dad hunts with a sako 264 winmag that was made in the 60's. It still shoots incredibly well. Like many things in life, reality is often different than the common perception.
My .264 is also 60's (pre-64 featherweight). Accurate as it ever was, but never saw a lot of target use. My dad's (pre-64 westerner) on the other hand is pretty well shot out (and most all with H4831 which is kinder to barrels). In mostly hunting apps, it's pretty hard to burn out a barrel. A long range match guy will eat them up though. I'd guess barrel life reduced by 1/3 v .264.

Though I'm all for wildcatting, this 260N just seems like a solution looking for a problem to me. 93 grains of water capacity behind a 6.5mm.

Maybe a silly question to some but what is a Super Duper Magnum????
I might have one and not even know it?
The best part of hunting and fishing was the thinking about going and the talking about it after you got back

They're not liberals, they're leftists. Please don't use the former for the latter. Liberals are Locke, Jefferson, Burke, Hayek. Leftists are progressives, Prussian state-socialists, fascists. Liberals stand against the state and unequivocally support liberty. Leftists support state tyranny.
