Nice! How does it compare to 6.5 - 248?

Good sheep round right there. I predict we are going to see more and more 6.5mm variants in the future.

And I just got my 264Win mag all set up. Now another to look at.
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

haha, well that 264 is already flatter then flat you will spend a lot of money for marginal benefit IMO.

Impressive cartridge, but it would have been a little more honest if nosler compared the same bullet type for the other 6.5mm cartridges. I wonder how much difference the extra 300 fps the 26 nosler has over the old 264 winmag would really make.

Glad to see the continued movement away from super duper magnums.
This is public land, we're not hunting, we're hiking with guns. There are no deer or pigs on public land

For real world hunting purposes its splitting hairs as far as im concerned but i agree with your questioning.

I agree, makes no sense for most people.

I grew up with a .264. Inherited it when my mom passed.

They're barrel burners though. Anything even faster is going to exacerbate that.

It's all relative. Many popular hunting cartridges are every bit the barrel burner as the 264, but the 264 got a bad wrap because it was one of the very first small caliber high speed magnums. Today's ultra mags and many of the weatherby mags, and even the popular 243 Winchester and 22-250 are every bit the barrel burner that the 264 is.

My dad hunts with a sako 264 winmag that was made in the 60's. It still shoots incredibly well. Like many things in life, reality is often different than the common perception.

I was planning on my next rifle build to be a 264WM. I dont see the couple hundred fps making any difference at typical hunting distances.
