    Lions Everywhere

Had a mountain lion walk across a oat hay field tuesday evening after killing a chicken in the neighbor backyard.
DFW showed up and after some talking with the guy it seems they are everywhere. We are about 1 mile outside of Santa Rosa city limits.Had one cat on mark west springs road 1/4 mile off of hwy 101 and another at the spring lake parking lot both hit by cars.
Warden uses a shotgun shell with a M80 firecracker in it to harass the big cats away.I left for dinner before getting a look at the ammo but he said they run $4 a shot and are sold out of Florida.

One took out a dog out of Chico in upper Bidwell park. Lab/pit mix was found in pieces and the cat is still on the move.

Of course at some point they'll get used to it and may run at first but come back later. The right tool for the job is something about .30 caliber or larger.

Paint the area you want to protect like an end zone.

            Also works for bears....

                    I have 30 on a 4-way. Yeeeee. Bang. Bang. But don't need 120 shells
I see these being used around Camarillo and Oxnard all the time.

I'll tell you one thing!! If this drought continues, things will get way way worse than they are now.

When the water gets so scarce that ALL the animals have to share one spot, the lions will slaughter deer. When the deer are scarce, the lions will be on the livestock and when they are gone do to ranchers selling the stock off because of no feed, the lions will be on your pets and humans.

Thats why they call it a food chain.

Except for my horses and maybe some sheep (for personal consumption) I will be selling all my livestock off if this drought continues.

Lion, bear and coyote sightings will be all to common in heavily populated areas.

The Wardens are under new laws and have to relocate Lions rather than kill them unless immediate human threat. The coming five years will be interesting. The drought is not looking good we have no snow on the hills near Susanville.
Re-Elect the same legislators and get the same results. Why not vote out all incumbents could it Hurt?

Thats actually not all true. They can still kill the lion at their discretion. Mostly what this bill was meant for was for suburbs where lions are located they can use less lethal means.

In a nut shell, when lions are located in a populated area, there are lots of people around watching the action. In this instance, a warden can use less lethal so that they can tell all the moms and children how they didn't kill the kitty in front of them. Now when they drug them and take them away for relocation, everyone will clap and chant hoorrayy for the kitty!!! Be free and the story book will have a happy ending.

Until the cat comes back that is. Where do these idiots think they can actually relocate a cat that isn't already occupied by a dominant tom???

                              Anyone see this?

With grilling season upon us, we’ll all be looking for new and delicious ways to feed a crowd. So I want to share one of my favorites – a center-cut salmon fillet. All salmon grills up wonderfully, but center-cut fillets are particularly great when feeding larger groups. Because these fillets tend to have a uniform […]
