I am in pretty much the same boat. I grew up hunting upland game in my native Idaho, but I lost interest during college and I haven't been in years. Now that I'm here, I am very interested in going again (and my sons are, too). I see Grant Boys in OC offers Hunter Ed classes almost monthly. Now that Turkey season is upon us, is there anybody in the LA/OC area planning a hunt that I could tag along with and learn a few things from (after getting a license, of course)? I am lightly armed at present, but I do have a shotgun that I used to take pheasants with, I am assuming it would work for most game birds.

Funny I found this thread, because I was about to post a topic identical to the OP.

I'm in the LA area and have never been hunting. Where are the closest hunting areas for anything from varmints to larger game? Thanks for the info on the hunting license too, I will get that started soon.
