Bears don't care if you naked (or not).

Last season I was hunting near Forbestown (D3) at last light on an old cut road. Heard a bit of rustling to my right so I stopped and dropped to a knee hoping it was a deer. Instead, out pops a beautiful cinnamon, 20 ft. away. Wind was at it's back so it couldn't smell me but it knew something was up and just stared in my direction for about 10 seconds, huffed and kept on walking across the road and vanished in manzanita so thick I couldn't get through it.

Moral of the story- It survived because bear meat sucks imo. It was one and done for me.

This really is great. Thanks for all the input. We're definitely not out scouting for bears but I've decided if I have a good shot on one I'll take it.

Is the meat really that bad? Not even good enough for sausage, jerked, etc.?

Saw I guy on a hunting show say he cures it like a ham

I'm not gonna lie. Considering I've never hinted before I'm a little hesitant about going after a bear.

I have a .308 which I hear is enough of a gun, but I'm thinking not the overkill I'd like if I was taking a shot at a bear from the ground. no tree stand

So, I'll ask you guys. How dangerous is this? Is a black bear likely to charge you if you don't drop it instantly with he first shot?

be carefull: buddy of minbe busted his ankle right in front of me when a Grizzly 400 rolled over on him....ruined a week of hunting and the Grizzly road away unscathed
