People talk as if hogs shoulder blades are made of titanium and their skin plated with AR1200 steel.

    Nice hunt OP!

Let me just say I am green with envy. I love Texas and the way Texans do things. I can only dream of such a night...God that's gotta be fun! Maybe some day some cool Texan will invite me to come play HOGS GONE WILD TEXAS. Congratulations bud, that's some serious porkin'.
Human beings only have two ways to deal with one another: reason and force. Force has no place as a valid method of social interaction, and the only thing that removes force from the menu is the personal firearm, as paradoxical as it may sound to some.

The U.S. city with the most restrictive gun laws in the nation, Washington, D.C., has the highest murder rate at 24 per 100,000.
The state with the most unrestrictive gun regulations, Vermont, has the lowest murder rate at 0.48 per 100,000.

This is pic I got on my tree cam a couple of years ago. I have many more like this one. Both the dead hog above and the hog in this picture are no more than 4 years old at best.
Your gonna be a good asset to this forum. It's good to see new people posting up kill pics in here. Also, sounds like you've got a ton of experience to so it'll be good to hear some more stories.

Besides the bragging rights thread, there are a number of posters here who have killed hogs in California that are larger and even significantly larger than that and have photo's for you to check out if your interested.

Here's a few of mine if you sort through it, from small to oversize. There are plenty in there much larger than that pig, and all from California. If you want to see more small-oversize pigs, let me know and I'll go through the numerous hard drives I have laying around and pull off a few hundred more.

Also, since it appears you enjoy game camera footage, here's a few stupid game cam videos of pigs with a few large ones walking around here and there. I literally have hundreds of hours of decent video on disk of pigs much much larger than that.

In regards to age, we've killed pigs with 6 teeth on a side all grinded down to the base with the 6th tooth having a fully matured base and being grinded down all the way as well. It isn't unheard of for some of these pigs to go past 10 years. We have habitat here in different places where there is no hunting, day or night, and a pig might have access to barley fields and acorns without ever having to really move around. Pigs start living a long time in these spots and continue to pass on their genetics; and according to a DFG study I read years back, can actually die of starvation from their jaw bones just falling apart. A 7 year old pig is not yet at that point.

Keep your pics and stories rollin in. It's good to have discussions with different hunters.

They sure do have more exciting ways for your average hunter to hunt pigs over there, that's for sure!

Is that a good example of how effective the .223 is? I bet you if he was using a .300 win mag he would have found all 6 im not saying it cant be done ethically but you just lower your chances and its the animal that ends up paying the price.

Thanks for sharing by the way, looks like fun.
Well actually, I didn't even look for the 2 that got hit and ran away. They are not worth my time or tracking. They most likely were down just beyond the tree line and off of public property. So regardless, I wouldn't be able to retrieve them. Also keep in mind that all 6 were shot within 8 - 10 seconds, not over time. All but 2 hogs were at full run in semi heavy cover. This was not done in a open field, but a river bed. We are not shooting these hog for harvest, these are killed strickly for depeciation purposes. The only reason the 2 got away is they were most likely shot in hind quarter and surely bled to death with minutes of a partition bullet entering them.

                  Yes, a non-resident non-game hunting license is like $48.

We call 'em Buzzards 'round here.

Lol, we call them buzzards here too. I used term vultures, because I figured y'all wouldn't know what buzzards were. Go figure.

All the ones in these pictures were not baited, the tree cam pictures are from a piece of property I guide on every once in a while.

It tastes ok, but it's really only good when cooked on a smoker for 6 to 10 hours and if the hog is under 150 pounds.

I actually just got back from another hunt tonight which had to be cut short because some idiots were at my house trying to break into my wife's car, but my dog saw them and wife stood at the door with a XD 45. They are lucky I wasn't there, I would have shot them both.

Hi WestFork nice work! Now you did say "no special license", so does that hold for out of State hunters who want to come Texas way and harvest some pork? Or, what do we need...just a Texas hunting license?
