They lie. Most are edible but the older ones tend to be very greasy and gamey. I will send you some from the next batch if you want to judge it for yourself?

In other parts of the country, people hunt them for the pelts during fall and winter.

Cause finding pigs is really hard in Southern California?

Nothing against hunting them. In fact, I'd love to tag along with some of you guys. (Hint, hint)

But... I've got a German Shepherd, and they sure look similar.

I was hunting pig on a private ranch last year when I saw a coyote chase a deer into a small lake. Pretty amazing. I had a bead on him, but didn't take the easy shot. Wasn't sure what the land owner's policy was since it hadn't been discussed. Later he almost kicked my butt for not killing that #$%^&* coyote... ;-)

Nice racks are much better. You can grab both sides of the rack to help stabilize while mounting.

Without natural predators all species will over reproduce and with pigs and coyotes they have become a tremendous problem. Here in San Diego, there is an abundance of them living in the canyons surrounding residential areas where they are off limits to hunters but kill dogs & cats on a regular basis. Often land owners will request that I kill every coyote and ground squirrel I see, in exchange for permission to hunt/fish on their property. Twenty years ago they were only in western states and today they can be found in almost every state in the US.

                    1. No tag required
                    2. Can hunt at night
                    3. smaller calibers - cheaper ammo
                    4. way too many of them

Deer tastes a helluva lot better than coyote, same thing goes with my cattle.

I'm only smiling at you while you talk to me because it's hilarious that you really think I give a crap about you.

As I've gotten older I thought I was gaining patience, then I realized I simply don't give a crap.

I only know of three kinds of "professional coyote hunters": ADC guys, the guys you see in hunting shows on TV or video, and hunting guides, none of which frequent this forum.

Ask these people if they have tried it.
