I will be out teaching a buddy how to hunt them this Saturday but as stated we probably wont kill them unless 40#+ and Male. The females are i heat or pregnant right now and we dont want to kill them so we can have fresh pups later this year. This time of year it calms down a little for me. I do see them a lot more this time of year but that is only because it is not blistering hot.

Damn, talk about eating "hot dogs"

Keep Posting. Even if it is just how many you have seen or called in in the last year or so.

Coyotes have been killing our cats.

Can they be shot on private property, without any type of license or tags?

I know it was mentioned earlier that a license is required, but I was not sure if this also applied to pest control on private land.

                Thanks guys.

If it is Life or death it is a different situation. Just remember "They're coming right for us". If not I will come and take care of them for you with my bow.

LOL, "He was comming right at us."

Appreciate the offer of assistance--but this is taking place in Nor Cal, contrary to my location on the profile.

I am working on getting more pics right now for you people. Too bad me and one of my clients did not bring a camera with us on Saturday. We got one over the weekend and we saw 3. The one shot was about 40-45 pound and male. When I hit the call it wasn't five seconds and he appeared at 50 yards in front of us in some thick brush ( he was probably just napping or lying down and stood up when I hit the call. He started to run after he spotted us which was only about 5 seconds so I hit my pup distress and then the coyote stopped at approx. 150 yards with a nice broadside shot. My buddy hit him with his (justsighted in that morning in 35MPH wind) .243 and it was game over. It was a pretty exciting morning for us. The other two would not come in range for us because at that location I had my 12ga out and he wanted to try his bow in the tall bushes and then two motor cycles scared them off.

Hope to get hunting with some of you guys soon.

Dont forget about the event at Cavtroopers house this Saturday. We will be discussing a lot of coyote hunting tips and just shooting the breeze.
