If he wants a left handed gun, he wants a left handed gun. I shoot a right handed shotgun left handed, but that's me. I had to get left handed bolt guns because of what I felt comfortable with. It makes a big difference shooting what you're comfortable shooting.

how many of you left handed shooters are right eye dominate?

test your self and see if you are left or right eye dom then shoot that way. other wise you end up closing one eye and will never be as good a shot as you could be with both eyes open.

one wet shell and i bet you think twice about shooting a autoloader backwards.

benelli, Remington 11-87 make true lefty shotguns. Beretta 391 series, a400, a300, you can purchase left hand trigger assembly - all eject empty hulls diagonal away from you

I only pointed out the powder in the eye as its happened way too many times to me. Old Winchester dryloks and some estates were the culprit.

I'm a lefty. I've been shooting shotguns since the late 70's and I've never shot a LHed one. My only problems come from SxS muzzle loaders but, either way you shoulder one of those, you're going to have a lock next to your face.

I shoot right-handed shotguns and the only problem I have is that with a rear safety, that when I pull the trigger the pad of my trigger finger between the first and second knuckles will engage the safety. on my shotguns, the safety gets reversed. I prefer shotguns tha have the safety in front of the trigger so it isn't an issue knocking the safety on under recoil. my Beretta 1301 has a forward safety that was easily switched for left-hand operation.

the second item that will affect lefties is how the shotgun fits. most right-handed shotguns are designed to be fired from the right shoulder (imagine that) so they have cast-off built into the stock so that it better fits. you can look directly down the bore line of the shotgun and the stock is slightly angled to the right. but when a lefty shoulders that gun, the stock is bent the wrong way and you don't get a natural point of aim. so, as a lefty you want cast-on in the stock. you can either buy a shotgun that has shims to adjust for cast-on, or you can have a replacement LH stock swapped in, or the original stock can be warped to be cast-on.

the Beretta 1301 Comp comes with shims to make it cast-on.

finally, having the loading port on the right makes port loading a RH shotgun as a lefty FAST. you can grab a shell with your right hand, look it right into the loading port, smack the bolt release with your right thumb and be ready to go.
