    Shotgun shooters..

Any left handed shooters use right handed shotguns? My old man is a lefty and can't seem to get comfortable on a right handed bird gun. On the other hand my little cousin shoots lefty an loves shooting a right handed gun. He likes the fact he can reload without taking his strong hand off the gun. Anybody else face this southpaw dilemma?

I have no issues with a right handed gun though I had my gunsmith to move the safety to the other side.

BTW, Benelli does make lefty shotguns.

I'm also a lefty and prefer right handed shotguns.

Same here. I can cycle a pump much faster with my strong hand!

          Tanks,
that's the exact gun in question. I found an m2 that would be perfect for my pop to upgrade to from his bps. The problem is it's a righty and he'd rather shoot a left handed gun. I'm thinking we might hit the range for a skeet/trap session this weekend to get him so more practice with my right handed benelli.

I have an older Browning BPS with bottom eject and the safety is on top and can be used right or left handed. Maybe take a look at them if you are shopping for a new gun

I'm right handed, and handled a lefty semi-auto at Sportsman's while my wife was handling some waterfowl guns. My wife picked up a lefty Benelli(I think it was a Benelli) and said it made more sense for that to be for a right handed person. My next gun and her first one will be lefty. If we can find one with a reversible safety.

Toast. If your a right stick with that. Hulls zipping past your face plus when unburned powder comes out of the action you want that away from your eyes. Just my $.02.

has he shot a left handed shotgun before, Benelli makes several lefties to choose from. I would think he should try one out and see how he does.

                      Have him try a O/U if he's a lefty.

I am left handed and have been shooting shotguns since the late 60's. The two most common shotguns that I have used during that time period were a Remington 870 and a Winchester Super X Model 1. I have fired these shotguns 10s of thousands of times and have never been hit with a spent shell casing or powder.

I suspect your dad is focusing more on the possibility of being hit with a spent shell or powder than he is on the target. He either needs to train on maintaining focus or get a shotgun made for a left handed person. I did at one time own and use a left handed Remington 870, but I liked the right handed version better.

I shoot left handed with my right handed shotgun with no problems (Maxus, A400 and Nova).

This, I have one too. They're great guns anyway, as well as ambi.

Never had an issue, in fact all of my semi-auto, Maxus, Supersport II and Super Vinci are all right handed. What's cool is that I and sometimes see the ignition of the shell with my right eye. The sparks are scary if seeing it for the first time.
