Wife is a n00b general ME, graduated last year. She had work before graduation as an engineer at a local firm who designed drawer slides, latches, other small things. They kicked her to the curb the day after graduation because they didn't want to pay her what they knew she was worth. That was brilliant. You graduated? Here is your layoff notice, have a nice life.

She is a hard worker, well at least harder than me, but that comes from flying a desk for years.

Rather than a complete social collapse I think we're eventually going to see major issues when and if the entitlements are significantly cut or stopped.

Look at some of these people that have been taking a welfare check of some type for literally generations. It's all they know, they deserve that money, and YOU owe it to them.

You've all seen these people, what do you think their response will be to the tap running dry? Will they suck it up and find a way to make a living? No? Since they never have learned to make an honest living to this point why start now? Many are, to put it mildly, very familiar with violence and I feel they will likely resort to that very quickly. If it happens on a large scale Law Enforcement will be quickly overwhelmed.

All I can say is that I'm very glad I do not live in a City, semi-surrounded by this.

These entitlement programs must be radically cut, but it's not going to be a pain free exercise, especially if it happens in an uncontrolled fashion.

1930's or somewhat worse style economic collapse is probably the most realistic of all survival forum end of the world scenarios.

Its probably the worst scenario to try to plan for as well. You can't store 10 years worth of food and water. Expect authorities to come down very hard on the populous to "keep control," and that includes control of you.
