If anyone is in the Bay Area, I have a group buy going on some freeze dried #10 cans. I need a minimum order of 6 cans each to get the group price.

Min. quantity for the chicken has been met.
    2-3 on the Beef Teriyaki.
    1 on the shredded cheese.
1 on the shrimp(I didn't see that one before. Might have just added).

I travel between Marin and Tracy. I am ordering in the next day or two. PM me if you are interested.

P.S. I have been to one of the LDS canneries, they couldn't have been nicer. Super prices.

This buy is closed. If you are interested in future buys, let me know.

I did the mormon cannery thing last week and it was a great experience. The place in Santa Clara kind of gave us a hard time about bringing someone from the local ward with us so we called the Concord location instead and made an appointment.
Nicest husband and wife you will ever meet running the place. He did ask what ward we were from and when we answered that we weren't, in a tentative way, he just said "that's ok".
Prices were great and it was fun to learn the packaging process.
I highly recommend using this location to stock all your basics like wheat, beans, rice. They have sugar, carrots, apples, and potato flakes as well.
I tried to stick with things that have 30 year shelf life in #10 cans. Next trip will be to costco for canned meats and vegetables.

Yep, Bob and I have become friends since going to the cannery the first time. About the nicest people you will ever meet.

I won't matter if they are food grade buckets if you use a mylar bag! I bought my buckets at tracktor supply for $2.99 each last year.

              Thanks for the info guys.
The capitalist economic model is fundamentally flawed. It is not self sustaining, and can only maintain itself with constant growth. Obviously infinite growth is impossible, so the question is not whether the economy will collapse, but when.

Get your guns, ammo, and food while the stores still stock them. Prepare yourself now, because when the meltdown comes it will be too late.

Thanks for the link. Cool website.
Nothing you can do to stop it. The holes are the size of a knats azzhole and remain full of water at all times. I suppose you could bring a compressor and blow it out after each use. One tiny crack in a tube and its infection city for the whole unhappy family. That filter is the last filter I would choose. Like taking fine china to go camping just way to fragile.

Edit: PC I started this thread to spread the word about a food storage resource and hopefully hear about others. If you want to disparage my equipment choices maybe you could start a new thread. Maybe title it something like "ZenDaddy's filter sucks!" or something similar. Then if you want to crap on it it go right ahead, otherwise lets stay on topic eh?

This thread is a great resource. For those who have the time and are close to a facility this is very good.
Here is another resource. Looking at the mormon price list this is more expensive but it is delivered to your door and prepackaged. One of those trade-offs, I guess. www.disastersupplydepot.com has a dehydrated food package for sale. I bought one and I'm pretty happy with what showed up. I don't live near one of the Mormon facilites and really don't have the time to go shop and can at one so I chose the convenience of ordering this package and having it show up at my house in 10 days.

While water filters can fail, it doesn't mean you're going to die... not by a long shot!

Also, it is extremely easy to prevent a filter/purifier from freezing. Simply wrapping it up in cloth works wonders.
