Gold mining

I think it's a cool hobby. But I'm not sure that the ratio in this case of profit and time spent by you can be considered a good source of income.

Most people that get into gold prospecting do it for the fun of it and the people that think they'll get rich doing it wash out. It's all about going outdoors and enjoying the thrill of the hunt and maybe finding a little bit of gold.

Good for you. Nobody is going to make you happy in the political sphere. they dont' care about you so you go ahead and do what it takes to enjoy care for yourself. Seriously. I'm trying to do that same here at home.

You have your own claim?

My dad was into that in the 60's and 70's. He had hard rock and placer claims. The placer claims were in dry washes so he developed a dry sluice box.

The hard rock claims assayed the best. This is back when gold was around $100 an ounce, and if we could have mined it ourselves we would have been filthy rich. If we could have sold the claims for a royalty we still would have been rich, but not filthy. The problem was getting to the claim and making a road that could handle ore trucks. AFAIK that gold is still there.
