Definitely more productive, if only for the fresh air and exercise.

Here's hoping you find a few pounds worth of the stuff.

i would be happy with a gram claim is on mokelumne river just outside yosemite a few miles behind a forest service locked gate. sleep alittle easier not worrying about tweekers rolling in at 1 am.

Sounds like a great time. Good luck finding paydirt. What method are you using?

And please spell it out for me about the tweekers. What do they do at 1am in Fairfield.

Well when camping in National forest especially places like Bear river county park and public gold mining area tweakers are drawn for what ever reason to these areas.I will be doing some metal detecting and a keene a52 sluice box. Dont leave things unattended around tweekers

Paper target I don't sleep in a tent along a road while at home in Fairfield. If you don't know about tweekers you have been living under a rock for the last 30 years hope that was an attempt at humor

                  Hi Matt.
Sorry, I misunderstood what you meant. I thought you were getting away from home to avoid the 1am tweekers at your home. I now understand you are going to go to a more remote camping area instead of an area that is more frequented by tweekers.

I have seen the Ring neighbor videos in a couple of different areas. I see the scavengers out at night trying car doors, house doors, and stealing shoes from porches.

It used to be the flat broke rock climbers stealing camping equipment. Now it's the tweekers stealing things.

Back to mining. I never used a metal detector method. I hope it works great on your trip.

Moke Hill is where the gold rush actually started.
Just no one talked about finding any until Sutter's Mill when the word got out.
                      That's my old stompin' ground.

                      Good Luck and have fun.

I think it's a cool hobby. But I'm not sure that the ratio in this case of profit and time spent by you can be considered a good source of income. By itself, investing in gold can also be a good decision, especially now, when many countries are experiencing record inflation rates and even international currencies are losing their value intensively. I'm really thinking about saving my money by investing in gold. The cost of a gold bar isn't cheap (you can check it here https://www.pacificpreciousmetals.com/gold-bars , for example) , but in the long run it may even bring profit. Do you think this could be a good investment decision now?
