I like a little taller fire chamber myself. 12-15" or better, but I really like that brick one also. It's a bit small but it should be good.Comment

Thought about making an offset smoker this way.Comment

I'd bet that your stove will work fairly well, once you get the breathing issues worked out. Getting maximum efficiency from a rocket stove is a delicate balance of the relative sizes of the feed chute, the fuel supply area and the main burner area. If they are not compatible, you can get incomplete use of the fuel and that means smoking.
Once a properly sized rocket stove is brought up to operating temps there shouldn't be any smoke from dry fuel.

Sometimes, it is the police or first responders; other times it is healthcare professionals; and sometimes it is family, friends, or neighbors. When I was growing up, my folks were always cautious to use "fire bricks" when they grilled. They were the same size as typical bricks, but they were white and stamped with an imprint, iirc.
My Mom said regular bricks could have moisture pockets that would cause them to break at best or explode at worst.
Don't know if that's still an issue with modern bricks, but something to research lest you inadvertently injure yourself or your family.Comment

I've heard that as well, I researched it when looking to build an out-door pizza oven. It's not so much that normal "red" brick will explode, it's that they are much more porous & the heat goes right through them... compromising any flammable materials behind them (like wood framing in the case of a fire place). Fire brick is way more dense, storing the heat & radiating it back towards the source. Much more efficient. When I was growing up, my folks were always cautious to use "fire bricks" when they grilled.
