    Rent threading tools.

I'd like to thread my barrel 5/8-24 on my Saiga but my barrel diameter is to big.
So I was wondering if I can rent the stuff I need to do this.
I'm pretty sure all I need is the muzzle cutter to cut my barrel from .670" to .630", the alignment tool for .308 bore, a 5/8-24 die, and a .308 TAT.
I'm not sure if I'm missing anything.
How much would it cost to rent your stuff?

        A muzzle cutter thing.
You put it on a drill and cut down the barrel. Dinzag has it but I don't have the cash for all these tools.

I guess I would have to be ready to be amazed... cause I'd be amazed if such a thing worked. Crome-moly steel is tough stuff.
          good luck

Ummmm yeah a thread cutter machine for a barrel is called a lathe. First your going to have to turn your current barrel down to a .535 ish to run a die over it. How did you plan on doing that. You need to put it on a lathe and single point it. To be honest its not as easy as you think it is

just my 2 cents, but that tool is garbage , goto a smith and have it done right as others have said and you look like you took offense to do it right you need a lathe, even with the arbor there a chance of not being centric with the bore ....

cost less then that tool + pilot + arbor =170 bucks for 1/2 arsed job

That's true, I just can't find anyone to do it on a Saiga. I'd perfer to take it in.
I didn't mean to sound offensive, ill keep lookin for a shop to do it. Just gets me angry because no one will do it because they think the Saiga is "evil". I'm putting a brake on it so i can reduce the muzzle jump so if i don't hit the animal in the right spot I'd be able to cleanly kill it and make it suffer less. Then I got some shop telling me they won't work on saigas because they're "evil". Every gun could be "evil" but I put that stupid bullet button on, and complied with all the laws. That in itself says I'm not going to go kill some people. I'm not going to spend an extra $300 to kill someone with a legal weapon.

                  Sorry, I'm done venting Hahaha.

Another issue is getting your barrel in the lathe to begin with. If you can get it away from the receiver, and get the FSB and any other attachments off of it, I can thread it for you. I am in Aptos, just south of Santa Cruz. 20+ years experience, FFL licensed and insured.

How much would you charge? The FSB is off, I'm sure I can remove the barrel.

Single-point threading to a shoulder, with bore centered to .0001" t.i.r. is $100. Thread to time add $25. Turn around 3 days or less.

Yes, if there is .625+- diameter, or more, to work with, and the barrel is 1-3/8" in diameter or under.

Mines .670", could you thread it 5/8-24 without any modifications on the barrel?
