They are closed top meaning they have a 2" bung for despensing the materal and a vent that can be either 1" or 2". They come with caps and they are air tight, so yes. They can be resealed.

You bet. I have Glycerine drums that are heavy gauge metal and would be perfect for such a project.

How difficult is it to rinse the Sorbitol residue out of the food grade containers?

Also, do you know where I could buy the "wrench" tool to open/seal the drums? Or pumps for getting the contents out of them?

I would be interested in afew of each of the food grade plastic and the heavy guage glycerine drums...

You can use the claw end of a hammer to open and close them or do a search for "bung wrench". The sorbitol wrinses out with just water. Give it 4 rinses with a gallon of water and you are done.
