try photographing on a non-reflective surface, and turn on the macro on ur camera for close-ups.

the pictures arent horrible, just thought it might help

            is that a hardwood stock?

I thought 1951 SKSs come with laminated stocks and only later years (54, 55) have hardwood stocks...

            at least my 1951 does

On your camera there should be a button that looks like a flower. Its for macro. If you select this you should be able to focus up close.

yes, it's hardwood, no, not all '51s were laminated, and it looks to be missing the bayonet?
