If you post in the WTB section chances are this con will tell you to contact his buddy at his email selling what ever you?re looking for.

Then the buddy will sends pics found other places and tell you to send some money. He?s even willing to talk on the phone.
It?s happened to me 3 different occasions now.

Lucky for me I haven?t fell for it.

Does having no feedback/selling history turn most people away? Otherwise I assume I overpriced it and/or people aren't interested.

There?s a lot of scammers on here, and having no feedback does make people wary, especially if the account was just created. For pricing, see if you can find others that have sold or are for sale, figure out condition, and price appropriately (like selling anything). Also having a time stamp with your username in your pictures to show they?re legit helps because scammers love to take pics off gunjoker and use them in their fake ads. Good luck, we all started in your position so just keep trying.

Many here are hesitant, many others are willing to give new guys a shot if the item is obtained FTF or is low cost.

If you were asking to ship it with money up front, most will be very cautious.

So I just had a question..
I?m not sure if this is the right place to ask
but I have bought a couple handguns through Cal guns and I?ve done a trade ..
never had any issues. Everything went well. All the firearms worked flawlessly,
I posted on August 24th That I was interested in a zastava AK 47 that was being sold by a user down in San Diego
I posted that I was interested in the firearm and posted my phone number and within a day they contacted me and was telling me that they would be willing to drive up to inland Empire and they wanted me to Zelle them half of the cost of the gun, which was about 500 bucks, I told them that I was interested in the rifle but I didn?t feel comfortable Zelleing anyone any money without first seeing the rifle, they told me that of course they were going to follow through. They just need a down payment to make sure I was a serious buyer and then they would meet me at the FFL of my choice, I told him I need to think about it. I still do not feel comfortable sending money through zelle for some thing that I did not actually get to see and put my hands on ..
This person kept reminding me that they did not want to ruin their reputation with Cal guns so of course they would follow through once they received the $500 down payment
in the past every single transaction that I have done through Cal guns has been in person,
cash in hand for payment, and I got to physically see and hold the firearm and there was no issues, everything went well.
I?m just wondering if this is a common place for people to ask for money upfront without even seeing the gun
I finally asked this person if they had more pictures of the gun and to which they responded, no my gun is wrapped up and it?s in the car waiting for my response. There was just too many red flags. Finally, I said I?m not doing it
I?m not giving you anything without seeing it first
I finally Googled the phone number and it was from Florida when the post said they lived in San Diego
finally I really looked at the post and it was posted that it was sold on August 24 ..
The same day I contacted them.
It?s just too many red flags. I don?t know if we need to flag this person or if they just took a picture and called me with another phone number I?m wondering if anyone has any ideas..
Or if anyone has come across scams like this?

You posted your phone # on the internet....?!? Then someone who probably wasn't the original poster of the gun magically gets in touch with you... and asks you to send money by non-refundable method... keeps trying hoping you'll fall for it.... Phone #'s can be spoofed, so the "seller" could have been virtually anywhere, and anyone... maybe even a Nigerian Prince!

Yeah, you were being played... and saved yourself $500 by not biting.

There's a thing called "PM" - private message. That keeps initial contact within the confines of the CalGuns site, and you can go from there (usually by exchanging phone #'s and text/voice) with at least some confidence you're dealing with an actual member as the counterparty.

And who keeps an AK wrapped up in their car... c'mon man!

Had my first bad experience in probably 30+ transactions on here.

"flippersparky" was the supposed buyer.
Phone: (661) 932-6300

Agreen to meet at an FFL in LA. Drove 2 hours to meet him/her there.
Arrived on time, buyer said they were on the way. Texted them again, said they were running 30 minutes late due to traffic.
An hour later, I tried calling and realized they blocked my number. Never showed up. Wasted 4 hours in the car and 1.5 hours in the gun store.

BEWARE OF ANY NEWBIE WHO IS NOT THE OP WHO MESSAGES YOU WITH CONTACT INFO FOR THE SELLER! This might be in the form of a cell number (example: (385) 269-9383) or an email address (example: Jarvismarvell11@gmail.com).
