So an update here: I went to several hours of messaging (google voice on my end) with this "seller." Ultimately I quit the discussion at the point where I tried to have a voice conversation and couldn't connect directly - his end always rolled to a message system.
Lots of warning signals though prior to that:
- supplied a paypal address really quickly and asked for payment before any pictures were shared.
- When I asked for images of the items (a case of LE133 buckshot) he came up with an image from a blog post.
- When I asked for an image of the entire case, after he sent an image of a single box of LE132, he finally came up with some images of loose shotgun shells. He also claimed that you just don't share picture of ammo. I say, then okay, don't offer it for sale.
- tried to call but kept getting some messaging system, it sounds like the number was a text only number.
- he claimed to be a FFL, yet was willing to ship ammo to any random CA address; I gave him a "home address"; not really.
- couldn't meet face to face - ever. I offered to drive to San Francisco to meet for the ammo transfer, but he was headed to OR. He didn't know when he'd return to be able to do the transfer.
Anyway there it is...do what you will.

Good read.
Quick question - There is mention of feedback for members. Is this it or is there a specific thread that allows positive and negative feedback of Calgun members? If there is a specific forum or thread, may I have a link?
I'd love to take a peek as I have a transaction upcoming and want to have an abundance of caution.Comment

iTrader has a count of how many feedback was left and % of positive.Comment

Fellow cal gunners this message is to confirm that this individual “speedgod” is a confirmed scammer. Unfortunately I was scammed out of $800 . I know that I have to partially blame myself for jumping the gun on this deal without investigating a little further , but it’s too late now. All I can do is warn others so that it may not happen to them . Be careful and do your research before proceeding to send money. The photos this individual used were from the web and I did search the web but may have missed the ones they used .
I’m adding the names that they used for awareness but I’m sure they changed them already . They preferred using Zelle.

Behumblefox229. Something doesnt feel right!
Was sent a message about my wtb post.
It can from a new account and sent me an email to a MarkColeen@rocketmail.com.
He sent a couple pictures of the guns Im interested in and everything seemed cool until I told him we could do the transaction Thursday. He then started insisting I send a down payment to show how serious I was about the purchase. Anyone dealt with this person?Comment

Not worth pursuing IMO.
If you want to prove it further, tell him if is has not sold it you are still willing to meet FTF, but no down payment and see what happens.
Who is the CG member telling you this? We need to know.Originally posted by Kestryll:

behumblefox229 join just on 7/11/20. Zero post, zero iTrader so that whatever's worth on that. But on the side of requesting a deposit, i have personally asks a small deposit ($20) before before meeting at an FFL on a Newbie buyer (which you are too) to make sure the buyer will show and not waste my time and gas, which has happen in the past.Comment

I would like to add Most of these buyers and sellers with low post count/late join date that always seem to Redirect you to another buyer or seller that has no credibility are definitely scammers.
