The purpose of this thread is to gauge interest in anodizing to coincide with (and immediately follow) the Quentin Defense AR15+AR10 80% Group Buy in January of 2013, and the subsequent Build Party to take place in March of 2013. Because the anodizing will take place after the lowers are technically firearms, this group buy will be ONLY for San Diego residents.
Anyone interested in anodizing their bare lower(s) after finishing the machining work on them at the AR15+AR10 80% Build Party in March of 2013, please post in this thread. I will be working with AIMSMALL on this group buy to coordinate schedules and ensure the logistics go as smoothly as possible.
(We realize that if this service is made available, you may want to change your order for the Quentin Defense AR15+AR10 80% Group Buy in January - i.e. from anodized lowers to white lowers. However, DO NOT change your order at this time. Please wait until we confirm pricing, logistics, and dates for anodizing, BEFORE changing your order with AIMSMALL.)
As of now, I have five local vendors I will be meeting with to discuss pricing. If you know of a shop in San Diego that performs this type of work, please PM me with their info. I will research vendors for reputation, quality, and price, and approach them based on the total number of pieces posted in this thread. Please attempt to be as accurate as possible when estimating.
Please know that the ONLY type of anodizing that will provided in this group buy is MIL-A-8625 or Type III, Class 2 anodizing, in black only. No other anodizing services or variations in color will be offered. Additionally, no previously anodized items will be considered - all pieces must be bare aluminum.
If you are interested in this group buy, and assuming the following:
(1) the anodizing will take place directly after the March 2013 Build Party, and
(2) you will change your order with AIMSMALL to account for this service
