Just checked: My account hasn't been hacked ... yet. Here is how you check: Top right menu bar, click on your own account. Mine says "Mountain Lion" and has a cougar face, your's will have your username. Then click on "recent posts", and make sure you know everything you posted recently.

Given how little this site is usable, and that accounts are being hacked and used for scams, is it even worth it keeping an account? On the other hand, with the only administrator who can close accounts (kestryll) being MIA, there is no way to close my account for safety.

At a minimum I would update your password for peace of mind. I don't know if the site's data has been compromised but it's certainly possible given the scale of hacked accounts here. There's just too many for it to be targeted hacks. It's also not just this site. I'm a member of other boards and they have all been hit by the same wave of fraud via hacked accounts around the same time. It seems to be an organized criminal element. Many forums use the same underlying forum software. Calguns uses vBulletin for example, so if vBulletin was hacked then hackers could presumably have account and password information of all the forums running the same vBulletin software. It could also be that the hackers breached an email provider and maybe all the hacked accounts on these forums are using the same email provider so the hackers were able to search and find forums of interest in their data and single out those accounts for fraud use. Either way the operation definitely would take some effort and given the scale I think it's safe to say it's a more sophisticated criminal element. The type of people who the FBI should be going after.

Wow! I myself have been away from the site for several years. I tried to login earlier this year and was unable to resolve the site address and figured it was taken down finally by the California politicians. Found out later that it imploded poor maintenance of the site. I am supper disappointed I lost my itrader history.
