That's a great deal, shipped or not. Too bad I don't live near CA USA, I can always use another 550.

With bubble wrapping and double boxing it is going to be something like 40-70 dollars. I have to go to UPS tomorrow, I can get you an exact price then.

I don't see that a "shipped" price was ever confirmed so you could say "I'll take it". The fact that he was gonna work out a shipped price for you does not mean that it was yours unless you said, "I'll take it, no matter how much it costs".

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

"I have to go to UPS tomorrow, I can get you an exact price then."

Wouldn't that mean that I'm in a holding pattern waiting for HIS exact price so he could get money in hand. Since I was the first to say I'll take it.. Since he said I can get YOU a price then.. Meaning tomorrow.. Am I wrong here? If I am... WOW..

Handshakes probably don't mean anything either then huh?

My opinion is that unless you said "I'll take it no matter what" after he clarifed that he would not ship it for that price, and would get you a price, that it wasn't yours. Your "I'll take it" was based on that being the shipped price, which it wasn't, so your "I'll take it" doesn't count. You were in a holding pattern, not him. Had he said, I'll consider it yours until I get a price and let you decide if you still want it", then I would consider it poor salesmanship. But I don't see him saying that and someone else stepped up and met his existing terms.

A handshake would mean something, had you both come to terms on what the deal was. There was no meeting of the minds on this deal yet, so no deal could have been struck yet.

                          I disagree.
chansen49 probably didn't want to say, "I'll take it" and then have the seller say OK shipping is X amount of dollars, leaving him responsible to pay an open ended amount.
The OP screwed up by not listing that info, and based on that, he should have given chansen49 first crack at it.
chansen49 did respond to ask how much shipping would be which adds to his first "I'll take it" post and infers that he is willing to pay for shipping he just needs to know how much.
That was done before any other "I'll take it's".
That means that his first "I'll take it" has been updated to "I'll take it depending on shipping cost".
chansen49 waited for a response from the OP who stated he would let him know the exact price the next day.
OP never responded to him, as he said he would, and instead sold it to someone else with the terms unknown to us.
So, as far as I am concerned, it should have been chansen49's unless he refused to pay the shipping cost, which he was never given the option to decide.
He should have had the right of first refusal.
Not to mention the fact that whoever bought it has no respect for the way things are done around here as they should have made sure chansen49 was out of the picture before making offers.
Also, the people saying "I'll take it" after chansen49 should have been saying "second in line if chansen49 doesn't want to pay shipping" and "third in line if chansen49 doesn't want to pay shipping".
I think chansen49 is rightfully upset.

I've bought and sold a few things on the internet and feel that "I'll take it" is not conditional. You do or you don't. You don't say "I'll take it," then negotiate. It should be pretty easy to figure out if shipping for a large item is within your budget. Most people around here don't gouge for shipping.

Bummer you missed a good deal, but it wasn't the first and it won't be the last.

happens alot here on this site... sellers and buyers too, not just the sellers... buyers saying "I take it" have you drive to the certain place and don't show, or "I love this one" try to negotiate a lower price at the PPT knowing there were people in line for the product....
