Holy gerbil. That is a steal. What a massive safe.I just picked up the Sports Afield safe from costco. Its 41.2 cubic ft 40" by 72" and 980 lbs. couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the original price of $2,999 marked down to $789. I didn't believe it until I was out the door and it was loaded in my pickup. For once something that was too good to be true was true. It was tucked away off to the side and the manager that had to ring me up for the price change was mad that he didn't see it. I was a giddy school girl the rest of the day.Lifetime NRA member.

Just bought mine today!
Can't wait to get it
Any update from all you guys in this thread who got your Bighorn safes?
.Comment

Yep!
You could maybe get em to bring it in the garage and they may take cash to help you take inside who knows.
But upstairs??? Nope!!! LOL
That would cost much more then 20 spot that's for sure

They are not suppose to deliver anywhere but thr curbside due to insurance reasons. However, with a little bit of smooth talk you can get em to drop it in the garage or a couple 20s should get it in the doorway. Make sure you get a dolley and a couple guys of you want it upstairs. Take the door off as it weighs a significant amount and it will make it easier to move.
I've had mine for well over 2 years and the keypad still works on the original duracell I've had in it since purchase. Great safe for the money! I am about to purchase a bigger one in the near future. Makes it 3 safes +1 in the future.Comment

That's like putting $5000 rims on a $2000 Camry. Dumb.............should have used that money to get a more secure safe.Originally posted by WebologistI am in a sympathy-free zone as well. A leftist brown shirt reaping what he sowed after profiting from it is sweet justice indeed.Comment

Makes no sense but okay!
What safe is meant for security really? LOL
I'd rather spend my money on guns and ammo then a safe that given the time needed someone can easily get into anyway.
But more power to you I guess.Comment

No, I didn't say that, but thanks for playing.
If all you see in that guys safe is a $1,000 AR you need better eyes or a better computer.
How hard can it be to understand ?
Dressing up a low-end safe with cool-factor stuff is just stupid, especially when you have Thousands of dollars of stuff in it. The money would be more logically spent on getting a better safe. Now, if that guy had a high end safe and dumped money into it for cool stuff, who cares. But to dump money into a crap safe, for non security reasons is...............dumb.Originally posted by WebologistI am in a sympathy-free zone as well. Gogo, I was going to say something earlier too.
Normally I'm against the whole "you need a 4g, 2800 lb safe no matter what" crowd. This is usually because for most people, the thin crappy safes are good enough in a pinch. I'm in an upstairs apartment, so I have one. Don't have the money for an expensive safe or the space/weight support. Someday I will and I'll make the upgrade, but until then something is better than nothing.
I also don't have a huge collection. The guy who decked out those two safes obviously has money for a couple scars and tavor... Along with everything else.
It does seem ridiculous once you get in the 10-15k+ territory of your gun collection to still buy the cheapest rsc you can possibly find.
Time to put a little more money into security at that point.Last edited by antiseen; 06-10-2015, 9:07 AM.Comment

The guy can afford an tl rated safe but space and the inability to move a larger safe in his basement is the reason he opted for smaller safes. If you read his post/reasoning you would know. Its obvious he has $$ in his firearms. Post a pic of your safe or recommend a safe in a similar dimension that you consider high end. Simply calling the bighorn safe a crap safe is easy to do. Finding solutions rather than insulting isn't.No, I didn't say that, but thanks for playing.
