My wife has a problem. You might call it an "eating disorder" of sorts. Unless we are eating together (which is usually just dinner because of our schedules) she can't be bothered with eating until she gets so hungry she can't ignore it anymore. She won't plan a shopping list or meals, literally food is on the back burner when it comes to her 2 solitary meals each day. Once she is that hungry there is no putting it off, she has to eat NOW. Usually that means forraging or whatever is ready to eat with near zero prep. In the past that has meant things like handfuls of Cheerios right out of the box, chips out of the bag, etc. Not great nutrition. Her energy levels and mood have suffered as a result. If she was out when this happened it nearly always meant drive-up window or some zero-thought choice like a pastry with that cost and bad nutrition.

The other day she was in a rush to go somewhere but had a full day planned. I offered her a taste of one of the cacao Soylents which I had just cracked open as she was about to scarf a toasted bagel (literally the mst elaborate food prep I had seen her do in weeks for a solitary meal). She liked it (which I wasn't really expecting since she doesn't like most new foods she's introduced to) and decided to drink one with her bagel. That night she enthusiastically told me how that bagel and soylent powered her through the entire day with no distracting hunger and best of all she had energy all day long. Coming from her, that is a glowing testimonial. She's insisted we set up a subscription for a couple cases a month. She has been known to say in the past she wishes there was a "Purina People Chow" so she didn't have to deal with all the overhead that comes with food (shoppimg, meal prep, cleanup, making sure stuff doesn't spoil before it's cooked/eaten, menu planning, etc). Looks like she finally discovered it.

In the past she would get too busy/preoccupied and come home grouchy/starving because the donut she grabbed at 10 am wore off around 2 pm... then would frantically grab a bag of chips or cereal while I am trying to fix a proper dinner (I am actually a decent cook and fix a proper meal) though I plead with her the food will be ready in 30 minutes, I can see she is literally coming unglued smelling dinner cooking and going crazy... so she scarfs down a few handfuls of Cheerios and then only eats half of the actual dinner because she's "not that hungry".... ( sure, NOW!). I am hoping having the Soylent handy will allow her to have decent nutrition and more regular eating cycles so we can plan things better for our one shared meal every day.

Don't be so sure about that - there was an episode of South Park, where athletes were drinking a substance called "Butters' Creamy Goo" that appears very similar to this product:

Butters' Creamy Goo was an athletic enhancement that was featured in the Season Sixteen episode, "Sarcastaball". When Cartman desperately asks for Butters' help to become a better sarcastaball player, Butters shows him a closet filled of jars of his "creamy goo", which are, in reality, the semen from his nocturnal emissions. Cartman ingests a jar of the "creamy goo", and believes that it made him feel better. This method soon becomes popular among other team players. As its popularity...

Based on the Harry Harrison novel "Make Room!, Make Room!" set in the distant future of 1999.

Well, it didn't exactly go as planned. She had one of the Cafe Vanilla (contains caffeine) for breakfast and left for a full day of work. Came home at 6 pm, crazed with hunger, as I was putting scalloped potatoes into the oven, and BBQ glazed chicken medallions into the broiler. Actual, real food. She grabbed a cold slice of leftover pizza out of the fridge... "babe, dinner's in a bit..." couldn't wait.... ended up only eating ONE chicken medallion. "So, what happened to the Soylent for lunch?" Too busy, literally working with one client after another, all day long. Well, she is going to have to start training herself to excuse herself for the 30 seconds it takes to chug one of these. There's no way I believe she couldn't. It just didn't seem that important, at the moment, to make a personal refueling stop when there was a client sitting right there waiting on her. So there's obviously a bit of personal re-training of habits needed as well.
