Can you not (easily) change the front sight on these?

Looks like the front sight is a post like 1911 A1 style. It doesn't have a dovetail... so to answer your question, the front sight post is much more difficult to change than a dovetail.

Are we sure this is on the roster? I see the HP 9mm on the roster, but is this that model?

FN Hipower is good to go. Browning Hipower, is not.

Any FN branded Hi Power is GTG for roster purposes, excepting the somewhat rare alloy frame models.
You'll notice that the roster specifies a steel gun.

Although, the rough parkerized finish is a bit of a turn off, I would like to add one to the collection as a kind of desert island purchase.

I have always wanted an HP, but just couldn't justify the price.

I assume that 10 round mags are readily (cheaply?) available...

I am not sure about really cheap but its pretty avg pricing for handgun mags. Mecgars run about $20ish

Another Altenative is finding Berretta 92f magazines and re notching the mag release on the magazine. If you can find the USGI 92f and send them to be blocked and then resent to california this still could be cheaper if you find them for a low price. Also even 10 round 92f magazines can be found cheap ocassionaly due to the high number of them

Ok, I just put mine in jail today. No issue with the DROS.
FN HP SA STEEL is what it was found under, went through.

So the finish appears as if it was parked in a cage rather than hung and sprayed but thats ok with me. Some small blemish's in the park here and there but altogether a really nice. I had them do a handpick for a lanyard ring and spur hammer.
Barrel is 75-80% But it might come out a little better if it was properly cleaned.

I have a new Browning HiPower that is a really pretty gun, a work of art but I wanted this one because one its half the cost and two I needed a backpack, truck gun that I don't care if it gets scratched. I was excited to see a more MII military version.
Id like to tell see what the trigger pull was like, but they don't send them with magazines, and I left a HP mag at home when I went to the store...

Ill do a review next week if anyone is interested!

Nice, congrats! Look forward to your review. I've been on the fence about buying this one or keep looking for a MKIII.

Hi all, I just had one of these shipped to a shop in the Sacramento area and he told me doj will not allow the transfer because it's off roster. I cut and pasted Guns and guitars post and sent it to him and he still said no. Can anyone suggest an ffl anywhere in nor Cal or the bay that will transfer this to me?

That is not exactly in the Sacramento area...

ducjay - if you are committed to Sac, have you tried reaching out to The Gun Range or Armory Outpost? In my experience, both these outfits are more than willing to accommodate customers operating withing the confines of the law.
